Birdstep Technology Launches RDM Embedded 8.0
Birdstep Technology (OSE: BIRD) announced a significant upgrade to its Raima Embedded Database Manager, RDM Embedded (RDMe). NEC, Intel to Develop PMIC Solution for Mobile Internet Devices
NEC Electronics Corporation and its subsidiary in the United States, NEC Electronics America, Inc., announced that they have teamed with Intel Corporation to develop a power management IC (PMIC) solution optimized for mobile Internet devices (MIDs). The highly integrated PMIC solution will combine power management, logic, audio and communications functions.

STMicroelectronics Debuts Sensorless Field-Oriented Motor Control Kit
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) announced a complete three-phase motor-control development kit based on the breakthrough STM32 Flash microcontroller – launched mid-2007 – which provides all the necessary hardware and firmware to enable users to evaluate this 32-bit solution, and to begin development of their own sensorless motor-control application. The STM32 uses the powerful ARM® Cortex(tm)-M3 core, developed specifically to address the requirements of cost-sensitive home-appliance and industrial applications.

Digi Announces ConnectPort X4 for Drop-in Networking
Digi International (NASDAQ:DGII) introduced the ConnectPort X4, a cost effective wireless gateway designed to link ZigBee/802.15.4 device networks with IP networks over cellular, Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections. The ConnectPort X4 is the latest addition to Digi’s Drop-in Networking product line, a combination of hardware components and software tools for network-enabling commercial grade devices where wired infrastructure does not exist or does not satisfy customer needs.

ProDesign Launches CHIPit Manager Pro
ProDesign, leading supplier of high-speed ASIC and SoC verification platforms, launched CHIPit Manager Pro, a new register transfer level (RTL) front-end software that takes RTL directly into the CHIPit ASIC Prototyping systems. The new software includes a complete design implementation flow, including RTL parsing, dependency check, synthesis, partitioning, clock tree, bus and memory handling. At the International Solid State Circuit Conference, IMEC presents a complete 200µW 8-channel EEG (electro-encephalogram) acquisition ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) suitable for miniaturized ambulatory EEG measurement systems. The ASIC meets the requirements for clinical EEG systems. Gain and filtering is programmable making it suitable for a wide range of ambulatory EEG applications.

Altium Announces Extended Range of Deployment NanoBoards
