In-Stat Publishes Report on ZigBee
ZigBee, the formal network, security, application-framework, and application-profile layer overlay on top of the 802.15.4 PHY (physical) and MAC (media-access-control) layers used in low-power wireless mesh networks, continues to evolve with its potential still unclear, reports In-Stat. Currently, ZigBee technology targets building automation, industrial, medical, home automation, asset management, HVAC and other monitoring applications, the high-tech market research firm says. More applications will be invented as programmers acquire more understanding of the technology.

Lambda Launches iAD Series of Point of Load Converters
Lambda has added to its range of point of load converters with the launch of the iAD series of non-isolated, single inline package, through-hole mounting devices. Featuring a DOSA compatible pin out, the iAD series addresses a broad range of applications from telecoms through to industrial equipment. With its wide input range from 6 to 14V, the iAD12016A008V is particularly well-suited for powering today’s diverse range of loads in a variety of architectures including distributed power, for example regulated 9V or 12V bus rails, and non-regulated 4:1 and 5:1 bus converter systems. Furthermore, its broad output adjustment range from 0.8V to 5.5V, its maximum output power of 80W and its ability to start into a pre-biased load make it especially useful in ASIC/FPGA and other applications where multiple voltages can be present.

Elma Introduces Rugged Rotary Encoder with All-Metal Body
Elma Electronic, a leading designer and manufacturer of rotary components and electronic packaging products, has released a new all-metal body version of their popular E27 series encoders. The metal E27 encoder is expressly designed for more robust applications than the standard version, where bushing strength, panel nut tightening torque and side-impact resistance is of primary importance.
