Aeroflex Releases Signal Safari v7.0 for Simulation, Analysis
Signal Safari(tm) v7.0, the latest evolution in a line of Aeroflex Signal Safari software, enables advanced analysis of complex communications signal environments. NXP, Purple Labs Debut Sub-$100 3G Linux Mobile Phone Reference Design
NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, and Purple Labs, a leading supplier of embedded Linux solutions for mobile phones, jointly announced the release of a 3G Linux reference feature phone offering video telephony, music playback, high-speed Internet browsing and video streaming at a transfer price below US$100. The new Purple Magic phone serves as a reference design for phone manufacturers creating entry-level 3G handsets.

OKI Creates LCD Controller LSI with NTSC, PAL, SECAM Video Decoder
Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6703) announced it has developed LCD controller LSIs for small and mid-size LCD monitors that include video decoders compatible with the three major video standards (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) and video adjustment functions. Both models are highly reliable, compliant to ISO/TS16949 and suitable for automotive LCD monitors such as in car navigation systems.

Kontron Introduces CRTtoLCD-8 Flat Panel Controller
Kontron’s flat panel division expands its aFLAT series with the CRTtoLCD-8 flat panel controller. The Kontron CRTtoLCD-8 is the first product to have a wide range power supply (12 – 24 volt) and is specially designed to support industrial applications. The flat panel controller is an interface, converter and scaler board between graphic sources and flat panels.

CSR, Motorola Form EGPS Forum for Enhanced Global Positioning System
CSR and Motorola announced that they intend to create an open industry forum to evaluate and foster enhanced Global Positioning System (EGPS) technologies. When used on a mobile device, EGPS technologies augment GPS to provide timely and accurate position information in demanding environments. The EGPS Forum is expected to advocate improvement to location technologies in mobile devices.

Avnet Rolls Out Virtex-5 LXT/SXT Development Kit in Asia

Toumaz to Present Paper at International Solid State Circuits Conference
