Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced two new battery fuel gauge devices with integrated low-dropout regulators (LDOs) for smart phones, mobile Internet devices and media players with embedded or removable batteries. The new system-side and battery pack-side fuel gauges build on TI’s popular family of integrated circuits (ICs) that predict battery life with 99-percent accuracy to extend run-time, protect data and provide a better user experience.

STMicroelectronics Unveils Precision Digital Temperature Sensors
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a leader in analog ICs, announced a new series of precision digital-output temperature sensors, operating over the -55 to +125 degrees C temperature range, which are ideal for low power applications in a broad range of product areas. The cost-competitive STxx75 devices are software-compatible drop-in replacements for industry-standard LM75, DS75 and TCN75A parts, and also complement ST’s STLM20 analog temperature sensor, now being used in several mobile phone designs.
