Gooch & Housego Announces Industrial Lasers with Low Out-Gassing
Gooch & Housego has brought technology designed for some of the universe’s most demanding conditions to the industrial laser market with its low out-gassing capability. The technique is designed to prevent the release of contaminating gasses inside laser systems, which can lead to the deterioration of optical surfaces and the eventual failure of critical components. Gooch & Housego is exhibiting at booth #1013 at the premier Photonics event.
PMC-Sierra Debuts MSP7160 Integrated GPON Fibre Access Gateway Device
PMC-Sierra, Inc. (Nasdaq:PMCS) has announced the availability of a Gigabit-speed, multi-service fibre access gateway device with an integrated ITU-T G.984 GPON interface. The MSP7160 integrates all of the functionality required for a GPON residential gateway, and leverages PMC-Sierra’s proven GPON interoperability and software layers to improve performance and reduce OEM time-to-market and development costs. The availability of this new device will enable carriers to expand HD video service offerings to consumers through the mass deployment of high bandwidth broadband and support necessary enhancements to applications.
Lambda Rolls Out ZWX Low Profile, Multiple Output ATX Power Supplies
New from Lambda is the ZWX series of low profile, multiple output ATX open frame switching power supplies designed for industrial computing applications, such as computer servers, industrial computers and broadcasting equipment. The ZWX series comprises three units, the ZWX180, ZWX240 and ZWX300, suitable for applications where convection cooling is desired and rated at 90W, 120W and 150W, respectively. However, with forced air cooling at 0.85m3/min (300cfm), the peak power ratings jump to 180W, 240W and 300W, respectively.
Cisco Invests in ip.access
ip.access, the award-winning market leader in femtocell and picocell technologies, announced that Cisco® has made an investment in the company. Terms of the investment were not disclosed. Already cash-positive with its existing 2G picocell business, ip.access has secured funding from an impressive array of industry supporters for its breakthrough Oyster 3G(tm) femtocell, which is currently in trials with major mobile network operators globally. Existing ip.access investors include Scottish Equity Partners, Rothschild Gestion, Intel Capital, Amadeus Capital Partners, ADC and Motorola Ventures.
GAO Embedded Introduces 2812EVM-II TI DSP Evaluation Board
GAO Embedded Inc. has introduced an upgrade to its TI Evaluation board. The newly developed board, GAO 2812EVM-II, is specially optimized for driving motors and control systems that are based on TMS320F2812 series DSPs. In addition, it uses an independent power supply for AD sampling thus avoiding EMI from the CPU core.

Synopsys, Inc. Altera Announces Stratix II GX FPGAs with 50-Gbps SFI-5 Interface
Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced SERDES Framer Interface Level 5 (SFI-5) standard support in its Stratix® II GX FPGAs with embedded transceivers, providing a 40- to 50-Gbps interface for high-performance optical communications applications. Hardware tested to verify compliance to the SFI-5 standard, Stratix II GX FPGAs feature up to 20 high-speed serial transceiver channels that can operate at data rates between 600 Mbps and 6.375 Gbps, easily satisfying SFI-5 interface requirements.
