AMD Expands Embedded Systems Platform
At the AMD Taiwan Embedded Forum this week, AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced a significant number of platform-stable, energy-efficient additions to its embedded roadmap. CoWare, STARC Team on Integrated SystemC TLM Methodology

Altera Wins Elektra Embedded System Product of the Year Award
Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced its Nios® II C-to-Hardware Acceleration Compiler (Nios II C2H Compiler) was awarded Embedded System Product of the Year at the Elektra ’07 European Electronic Industry Awards. The Nios II C2H Compiler delivers both improved performance and reduced power consumption for embedded systems. It substantially increases the performance of embedded software by automatically converting performance-critical C language subroutines into hardware blocks and integrating them into FPGA-based Nios II processor subsystems.

Quest Innovations Integrates LatticeECP2/M FPGA into Raptor Camera
Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced that Quest Innovations has selected the LatticeECP2(tm) and LatticeECP2M(tm) FPGAs (collectively, the “LatticeECP2/M family”) for use in its next generation Raptor series of scalable, intelligent Gigabit Ethernet cameras. Quest has integrated its QuadCore IP (intellectual property) into the Lattice FPGA. The QuadCore IP is a multi-core, scalable parallel pixel processing unit. Xilinx Rolls Out Virtex-5 LX155, LX20T, LX155T FPGAs
Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) introduced three new devices and small form factor packaging to its award winning 65nm Virtex(TM)-5 LX and LXT FPGA platforms as the adoption of programmable logic in new markets drives new cost and density requirements. The addition of the Virtex-5 LX155 device to the logic-optimized LX platform, and the addition of the LX20T and LX155T devices plus a new small footprint 19mm FF323 package to the Virtex-5 LXT platform with low power transceivers will enable new levels of cost-optimization for industrial networking, medical imaging, motor control, defense and high-performance computing applications.
