STMicroelectronics Creates STw5200 24-bit Hi-Fi DAC for Mobile Music
STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), a world leader in mobile multimedia, announced a very high-performance 24-bit audio DAC (digital-to-analog converter) that offers 103dB dynamic range across the entire audio path. Aimed at the mobile music market, the new STw5200 is available in small TFBGA and VFQFPN packages, and soon, in a tiny 2.6 x 2.6mm WLCSP. Simplifying the system design, the DAC can also be directly connected to the battery.

Strategy Analytics has identified ten key trends expected to emerge in the mobile handset industry over the next ten years. Important developments will include revolutionary designs and more intuitive user-interface. According to Neil Mawston, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics, "Such new formfactors as the transformer and rollable displays will revolutionize media phone design. Catalyst Semiconductor Unveils CAT4008 Constant Current LED Driver
Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ:CATS) a supplier of analog, mixed-signal and non-volatile memory semiconductors, has expanded its recently introduced family of large LED video display drivers with the new CAT4008, an 8-channel, constant-current sink LED driver for billboard, marquee, instrument and other large, general-purpose LED displays. The CAT4008 joins Catalyst's CAT4016, 16-channel, constant-current LED driver introduced in October 2007.
