Cadillac Escalade Platinum SUV Features LED Headlights
OSRAM Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are shining on a new era in automotive lighting. The Cadillac Escalade Platinum is the first sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the world to offer LED headlights as standard equipment. OSRAM LEDs power all functions in the headlights supplied by Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., a technology leader in automotive lighting innovation, including low beam, high-beam, daytime running lights, position lights and side marker lights. The Escalade Platinum, Cadillac’s luxurious sport utility vehicle will be launched in 2008.

NeoMagic Sells Embedded DRAM Patents to Faust for $9.5 Million
NeoMagic Corporation (Nasdaq: NMGC), a leader and pioneer in developing and delivering low-power solutions for multimedia-rich mobile phones and handheld devices, announced that it has signed an agreement to sell selected patents and patent applications to Faust Communications Holdings, LLC for $12.5 million, providing net proceeds of $9.5 million after agency commissions. The patents and patent applications sold relate to certain of NeoMagic’s non-essential patents. NeoMagic will retain a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the technology covered by these patents and patent applications for all of its current and future products.

Synfora PICO Express Integrates with CoWare Platform Architect
Synfora, Inc., a premier provider of algorithmic synthesis tools used to design systems-on-chips (SoCs), announced that its models are now plug-and-play with the Platform Architect design environment from CoWare®, the leading supplier of platform-driven electronic system-level (ESL) design software and services. Joint customers will use Synfora’s PICO Express(tm) to create synthesizable RTL and the corresponding transaction-level SystemC models from an untimed C algorithm for product-specific intellectual property (IP), and reuse them in combination with other ESL models in CoWare’s Platform Architect to capture the entire product platform at the system-level.

NEC Deploys Sequence Columbus-AMS for Ultra High Speed Digital Designs
Sequence Design’s Columbus-AMS is a mainstay in the analog engineering community, but is also proving to be productive for the high-speed digital designers at NEC Corporation in Japan. According to Koji Saga, Department Manager, CAD Engineering Department, Computers Division, NEC Corporation, his group has been using Columbus for inductance extraction in ultra-high-speed digital designs to accurately analyze clock delays.
