Agilent Develops Interactive Functional Test Software
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) introduced new Interactive Functional Test (IFT) software for its 8960 Series 10 (E5515C) Wireless Communications Test Set. Expanding on the functional test capability of this test set, the new IFT software provides an automated and simplified interface for realistically testing “user experience” by stress testing cellular mobile devices in real-world network scenarios. By allowing earlier identification of design issues and reducing time to market, this software is ideal for UMTS mobile phone/device developers conducting functional validation, as well as service providers performing acceptance testing.

Strategy Analytics Comments on NIRA Dynamics Tire Pressure Monitor
The Strategy Analytics Automotive Electronics Service Insight, “Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring Gate Crashes TREAD Party,” highlights the introduction of a new indirect tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) from NIRA that is set to challenge the current market. This indirect TPMS uses wheel vibration resonance measurement to estimate tire pressure from an anti-lock brake or traction control system. It can detect deflation on each wheel separately and is active after just 5 minutes of calibration.

Avago Creates Digital Optocouplers for Industrial Applications
Avago Technologies announced the addition of three new high-temperature, high-speed digital optocouplers which are the first in the industry for use in industrial applications. These new wide temperature optocouplers, which are housed in a 5-pin surface mount package, have been designed to operate over a wide range of temperatures from -40 to 125-degrees C making them extremely reliable and ideal for use in applications that operate in harsh industrial environments. Today’s announcement will enable Avago to provide its industrial customers with wide temperature optocoupler products in speeds ranging from one megabaud (1 MBd) to 10 MBd. Avago is a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications.

These amplifiers feature a new lower cost surface mount package and are available with frequencies from 20 MHz to 4,000 MHz, IP2 values to +75 dBm and noise figures as low as 0.9 dB. QBH-8900 series amplifiers offer gain from 10 dB to 28 dB and third order intercepts to +45dBm.
