BSQUARE to License Adobe Flash Lite to Mobile, Embedded Device OEMs
BSQUARE (Nasdaq: BSQR) announced that it has acquired NEC Corporation of America’s Adobe® Flash® Technology Consulting and Distribution business for an undisclosed sum. As a result of the transaction, BSQUARE is now a worldwide authorized distributor of Adobe Flash Lite(TM) software, which supports Adobe Flash® Player functionality for mobile and embedded devices. A license is required for any mobile or embedded device that utilizes Flash Lite software. BSQUARE will license Flash Lite to OEMs building mobile and embedded devices and will also deliver Flash Lite porting, performance-optimization, testing and verification services. In addition, BSQUARE plans to feature Flash Lite on its DevKit hardware development platforms.

WiMAX Forum Opens Lab for Mobile WiMAX Certification Testing
The WiMAX Forum announced its lead certification lab is now open for formal Mobile WiMAX certification testing and evaluation of Mobile WiMAX products. WiMAX Forum vendors may begin immediately submitting their 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz Mobile WiMAX equipment for testing. The WiMAX Forum’s lead certification lab is headquartered at AT4 Wireless in Spain. The WiMAX Forum expects its four other certification labs in the U.S., Taiwan, China, and Korea to open for formal Mobile WiMAX certification testing shortly.

DSM Computer Introduces Fanless 96M15801 Infinity Industrial PC
DSM Computer will be presenting for the first time a fanless variant of its 19-inch Infinity® IPC “96M15801″ at embedded world 2008 in Hall 12, Booth 208. The industrial computer based on an Intel® Celeron® M (ULV) processor with 1.0 GHz clock rate is specified for the operating temperature range 0° to +45° C (without any additional plug-in cards).

Altera FPGAs Power SANYO CCA-BC200 Automotive Rear-View Backup Camera
Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced its Cyclone® II FPGAs and Nios® II embedded processor are utilized by SANYO Electric Co. in its CCA-BC200 Automotive Rear-View Backup Camera System. The Cyclone II FPGA featuring a Nios II embedded processor provides SANYO with a high-performance image-processing solution that minimizes distortion in wide-angle views and hard-to-interpret perspectives. This single-chip FPGA-based approach provides a more compact and reliable solution compared to digital signal processing (DSP) device-based approaches, which typically require two or more devices.

Cypress OSCAR Sensor Powers ARRISCAN Motion Picture Camera, Film Scanner
Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) announced that its OSCAR custom CMOS image sensor is incorporated into the ARRIFLEX D-20 Digital Motion Picture Camera and ARRISCAN Film Scanner from ARRI GmbH. The 6-megapixel sensor is the same size as a Super 35-mm film aperture, enabling the D-20 camera to use the same prime, zoom and specialty lenses as 35-mm film cameras while shooting in High-Definition (HD). The resulting digital image has the same depth of field as 35-mm film, allowing film makers to direct a viewer’s attention to a specific part of an image, a feature that is a highly valued creative storytelling tool.
