AMETEK Acquires California Instruments
AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE:AME) announced it has acquired privately held California Instruments Corporation. Based in San Diego, California Instruments is a leader in programmable alternating current (AC) power sources used to test electrical and electronic products. California Instruments has annual sales of approximately $22 million.

Atheros Acquires u-Nav Microelectronics
Atheros Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATHR), a leading developer of advanced wireless solutions, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and certain liabilities of u-Nav Microelectronics, a privately held fabless semiconductor company specializing in global positioning system (GPS) chipsets and software that enable mobile location-based products and services. The acquisition of u-Nav immediately expands Atheros’ growing product portfolio in mobile wireless communications which also includes mobile wireless LAN (WLAN), Bluetooth and PHS.

Innovasic Unveils Reference Designs for fido1100 Microcontroller
Innovasic Semiconductor announced two new reference designs for its fido(TM)1100 real-time microcontroller family. Printed circuit board modules based on these designs will be available for purchase from Innovasic and third party manufacturers. Customers wishing to take advantage of the fido1100 deterministic real-time response, fail-safe operation and programmable I/O, can now utilize these reference designs and modules to do rapid prototyping and performance evaluation. In addition, the small footprint printed circuit board modules are ideal for direct integration into low-volume production of customer’s products. For higher-volume applications, the reference design includes everything needed to embed the solution directly into the customer’s product.
