ABI Research Publishes Report on Google’s Android, Mobile Linux
The spread of Linux into the mobile environment will face significant barriers, including vertical fragmentation due to the lack of complete stack, and horizontal fragmentation (the result of many bodies developing solutions in parallel). Both aspects have made it very difficult for device vendors, carriers, and third-party software developers to justify vast investment in platform development, but Google’s Android may be the solution.

TI, Arrow Announce Webcast: Selecting the Right Isolation Solution
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) and Arrow Electronics Inc. will present a live Analog eLab(TM) Webcast for designers titled “Selecting the Right Isolation Solution” on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. CST (18:00 hrs CET). The webcast will highlight the various isolation options available to electronics designers and discuss relevant criteria for selecting a solution for their applications. During the webcast, TI analog expert Bill Klein, P.E., and eLab panelists Tim Lafferty from TI and Todd Frizzell from Arrow will discuss isolation technologies and standards, and offer tips on selecting an appropriate solution.

Ford’s SYNC In-car System Features CSR BlueCore4-ROM Bluetooth
CSR (LSE: CSR) announced that its BlueCore4-ROM Bluetooth silicon features in Ford’s in-car communications and entertainment system called SYNC. As well as offering hands free operation of personal media players (PMPs), CSR’s technology allows SYNC users full hands free operation of Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, to make calls and access music. Ford’s SYNC will be fully integrated into twelve Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, including the 2008 Focus, Taurus X and Explorer. By the end of next year it will be available, or standard, in nearly every Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicle.
