BSQUARE to Offer Windows Mobile, CE Board Support Package for TI OMAP
BSQUARE (Nasdaq:BSQR), a leading provider of mobile solutions to the global embedded community and an OMAP(TM) Technology Center (OTC), announced that it has signed an agreement with Texas Instruments under which BSQUARE will license versions of TI’s Windows Mobile® and Windows® Embedded CE Board Support Package system-level software for the TI OMAP243x and TI OMAP34xx processors. Under this agreement, BSQUARE will customize and resell the system software to OEMs approved by TI, as well as provide system integration services. The new licensing agreement with TI applies to BSQUARE’s development centers in both North America and Taiwan.

These 28- and 40-pin, 40 MIPS devices start at $2.29 each in 10,000-unit quantities and are developed for cost-sensitive, space-constrained applications.

National Instruments Rolls Out cRIO-9072, cRIO-9074 CompactRIO Systems
National Instruments (Nasdaq:NATI) announced the release of the new NI cRIO-9072 and cRIO-9074 CompactRIO systems that give engineers and machine builders an ideal solution for rapidly deploying industrial machines at high volume. These new National Instruments CompactRIO systems have an integrated hardware architecture that combines an embedded real-time processor and a reconfigurable FPGA within a single chassis, lowering the cost of CompactRIO for OEM applications. Engineers can quickly design, prototype and deploy the customizable, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware systems for embedded machine control and data acquisition systems using the National Instruments LabVIEW graphical development environment, eliminating the need for spending unnecessary time and money designing custom embedded hardware for high-volume deployment.

GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms Debuts DSP220 6U VXS Quad Multicomputer
Setting a new standard in price/performance for demanding signal and data processing applications, GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced the DSP220 6U VXS (VITA 41.2) quad 8641/8641D multicomputer. Featuring four single or dual core Freescale(TM) PowerPC® 8641 system-on-chip nodes and a VITA 42.2-compliant XMC slot, the DSP220 is available in six ruggedization levels including air-, spray- and conduction-cooled for extended temperature operation as well as resistance to shock and vibration. It has already been selected for several major international military programs.

GE Fanuc Introduces CRX800 VXS Serial RapidIO Managed Switch
In line with the company’s strategy of developing the broadest range of high performance multiprocessing solutions for the 6U VME architecture, GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced the CRX800, which is the world’s first VXS (VITA41.2) compliant Serial RapidIO managed switch card. Designed to provide optimal support for VXS multi board applications – using the GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms DSP220 VXS quad 8641 processor or alternative multiprocessor systems – the CRX800 offers eighteen x4 Serial RapidIO (sRIO) payload ports, four x4 sRIO inter-switch ports and a PowerPC MPC8548 management processor which supports 128Mbytes of Flash memory and 256Mbytes of SDRAM for unsurpassed data throughput at up to 3.125GHz per lane.

ST Tapes Out Set-Top Box Chip with Mentor Graphics Olympus-SoC
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced that STMicroelectronics, the number one supplier of semiconductors for set-top box applications, has taped out an advanced process, multi-million gate set-top box chip using the Mentor Olympus-SoC(TM) place and route system. The Olympus-SoC product is the next-generation netlist-to-GDSII system that concurrently optimizes for variations in design modes, process corners and manufacturing variations.
