Silicon Labs Adds Stand-Alone Programming to 8-Bit MCU ToolStick
Silicon Laboratories Inc. (Nasdaq: SLAB), a leader in high-performance, analog-intensive, mixed-signal ICs, announced the enhancement of its ToolStick platform, a fully contained evaluation system in a USB stick, enabling customers to evaluate and debug its C8051F mixed-signal 8-bit MCU families and also program code into blank devices. Silicon Labs’ new programming adapter provides a unique, risk-free environment to evaluate, program and implement the MCU in their systems.

NanoMarkets Publishes Report on Organic Transistors, Memories
The growing demand for flexible, large area electronic circuitry from packaging, displays, smartcards, sensors and other industry sectors will drive the organic transistor and memory market to $21.6 billion by 2015. This is according to a new market research report from NanoMarkets, an industry analyst firm based here.

Toshiba, NEC Develop 32 Nanometer System LSI Process Technology
Toshiba Corporation and NEC Electronics Corporation announced that the companies have agreed to collaborate on the development of system LSI process technology for the 32-nanometer (nm) generation. Toshiba and NEC Electronics have been working together on 45nm process technology development since February 2006 at Toshiba’s Advanced Microelectronics Center in Yokohama. Under the new agreement, the two companies will extend the scope of their collaboration at the site to the 32nm generation, with the aim of accelerating development and sharing development costs.

STMicroelectronics Unveils VNI4140K Quad High-Side Solid-State Relay
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) announced a new quad high-side intelligent power switch (IPS) – the VNI4140K – which is produced using the latest generation of ST’s VIPower(TM) technology to achieve a 50 percent saving in Rds(on) compared to earlier devices with the same die size.
