Violin Memory, System Fabric Combine Scalable Memory, OpenFabrics
Violin Memory, Inc. and System Fabric Works announced a product and technology alliance which combines Scalable Memory and OpenFabrics technology. The combined technologies enable a set of Fabric Attached Memory solutions. The first of these solutions will be demonstrated at SC07.

NXP Debuts Programmable Embedded Vector Processor for Mobile Devices
NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, announced a major technological innovation, a powerful fully programmable vector processor, helping solve the integration, flexibility and standards issues of mobile communications. NXP’s Embedded Vector Processor (EVP) enables mobile devices to support multi-mode and multi-standard platforms, whilst also capable to cope for emerging telecom standards. This is particularly critical for handset manufacturers during the transition from 3G to 4G.

STMicroelectronics Introduces STM32 PerformanceStick Tool
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) announced the STM32 PerformanceStick, a very low cost development package for the recently announced STM32 Flash microcontroller family based on the ARM® Cortex(TM)-M3 core. This compact tool is designed to provide an easy introduction to the features and capabilities of the new MCU, and in particular to offer a graphical view of its performance characteristics under different conditions. Sample applications and a full Hitex software toolset are included, to encourage and enable the designer to modify and recompile application source code.

CSR Launches RadioPro WiFi Internet Radio Design with Sub $15 BOM
CSR (LSE:CSR) launched RadioPro, a WiFi internet radio example design based on the company’s UniFi single-chip WiFi technology. RadioPro provides wireless streaming of internet radio via WiFi, without the need for a PC and can support over 10,000 radio stations through a dedicated internet radio portal. With a bill of materials (BOM) of less than $15, CSR’s RadioPro is the lowest cost internet radio solution available today, and comes with the added advantage of being software upgradeable. Already in use by a number of lead customers, radios using CSR’s RadioPro will be available in shops in time for Christmas.

QNX, Freescale to Accelerate Development for Automakers
QNX Software Systems, the leading supplier of embedded operating systems, middleware, and development tools for car infotainment and telematics applications, announced a collaboration with Freescale Semiconductor to help automakers accelerate the development of next-generation telematics, infotainment, and multimedia applications. To facilitate this collaboration, Freescale Semiconductor has become a hardware sponsor of the QNX® OEM Innovation Labs (OIL) program, which provides leading-edge technology to the advanced design centers of automobile manufacturers around the world.

Apache Qualifies RedHawk Power Sign-off for 65nm Reference Flow
Apache Design Solutions, the technology leader in power sign-off and complete silicon integrity platform solutions, announced that Common Platform Technology alliance members – Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd., IBM, and Samsung Electronics – have qualified the RedHawk full-chip dynamic power integrity solution for use in 65nm reference flows supporting Common Platform technology. The adoption of RedHawk into the reference flow provides Chartered, IBM and Samsung and their customers, access to an industry-leading power sign-off solution.

Synopsys to Port DesignWare USB 2.0 nanoPHY IP to 45nm Common Platform
Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a world leader in software and IP for semiconductor design and manufacturing, announced an agreement with IBM to port the Synopsys DesignWare® USB 2.0 nanoPHY IP to the 45-nanometer (nm) Common Platform(TM) process. This agreement further strengthens the collaboration between the companies to provide USB PHY IP for IBM’s leading process technologies, including 130-, 90- and 65-nm, all of which are silicon-proven, USB logo-certified and in volume production. Synopsys is the first IP provider to announce the development of a mixed-signal USB 2.0 PHY IP targeting this 45-nm process technology. The Synopsys DesignWare USB 2.0 nanoPHY IP will be designed with Common Platform technology design rules to provide GDSII compatibility between Common Platform technology manufacturers.

QNX Software Announces Automotive Summit 2007

Toshiba Adopts Liberty Composite Current Source Modeling Technology
Synopsys, Inc.
