Berkeley Design Unveils 64-bit Analog FastSPICE Circuit Simulator
Berkeley Design Automation, Inc., provider of Precision Circuit Analysis(TM) technology for advanced analog and RF integrated circuits (ICs), announced the availability of a 64-bit version of its Analog FastSPICE circuit simulator which delivers true SPICE accuracy on > 1M transistor circuits – an industry first. Combined with the tool’s vastly superior DC convergence and 5x-10x performance advantage, the 64-bit implementation gives Analog FastSPICE 5x-10x higher effective capacity than any other true SPICE accurate simulator. Berkeley Design Automation customers have proven this capability by performing full-circuit DC operating point analysis, package analysis, and performance simulations on some of the world’s most highly-integrated analog/RF circuits, including 802.11 transceivers, WCDMA transceivers, microcontrollers, data converters, multi-channel power converters, and memories.

Wind River Unveils VxWorks 653 Platform 2.2 for ARINC 653 Avionics
Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), announced the release of VxWorks® 653 Platform 2.2, its enhanced ARINC 653 IMA platform for safety-critical systems. The new version of VxWorks 653 underscores Wind River’s commitment to providing the avionics market with a proven, high-performance, low-risk ARINC 653 operating system, with complete DO-178B Level A certification artifacts and full support for DO-297-based, role-based modular application development to increase development efficiency, accelerate customer deployments, greatly reduce certification time and cost, and reduce cost-of-change. Jazz Semiconductor Creates ROIC Cryogenic CMOS Models
Jazz Semiconductor®, a U.S. pure play foundry and leader in Analog-Intensive Mixed-Signal (AIMS) foundry solutions, announced the release of cryogenic CMOS models enabling design of Read-Out Integrated Circuits (ROICs) for cooled infrared imagers. The offering complements Jazz’s 8-inch ROIC process technology which includes large-die stitching services and spans CMOS linewidths from 0.5-micron to 0.13-micron.

National Semiconductor, Accelerated Designs Debut Ultra Librarian Reader
National Semiconductor Corp. and Accelerated Designs Inc. announced they have collaborated on an Ultra Librarian Reader (ULR) to provide National’s customers with schematic symbols and printed circuit board footprints for National’s entire product portfolio including National’s PowerWise(R) family of energy-efficient, high-performance analog products. This effort will accelerate time to market for every new customer design.

Agilent Debuts N2X Multiservices Test Solution for IPTV on IPv6
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) announced that its N2X multiservices test solution is the industry’s first test solution for validating Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service quality for thousands of subscribers on IPv6 network architectures, also referred to as next-generation networks (NGNs). Network equipment manufacturers and service providers can use the N2X solution to characterize the ability of individual IPv6 network elements or entire networks to meet IPTV Quality of Experience (QoE) expectations prior to deployment.

National Instruments Rolls Out LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5
National Instruments announced the release of LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5, the interactive measurement software that simplifies the acquisition, analysis and presentation of data from hundreds of data acquisition devices and instruments. Built on NI LabVIEW graphical programming, LabVIEW SignalExpress delivers an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop environment for configuring data-logging and instrument control applications. The latest version of LabVIEW SignalExpress introduces several performance improvements including a Project Analyzer to help engineers and scientists identify and address common measurement mistakes. LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 also is available in fully localized French, German and Japanese versions.

Fairchild Semiconductor Hosts Power Seminars in China
Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS) will highlight solutions to drive energy-efficiency at its popular power seminars, which will be hosted in four cities across Greater China in November 2007 (Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen). BiTMICRO Unveils E-Disk Altima E2A3 416GB 2.5-in SATA Flash Disk Drive
BiTMICRO Networks, Inc., pioneer in flash solid state storage solutions, announced the expansion of its intelligent flash IDE/ATA, SCSI, and Fibre Channel SSD line up with the coming of the E-Disk® Altima(TM) E2A3 Serial ATA (SATA) solid state flash drive. Lockheed Tests F-35 Joint Strike Fighter with AdvancedIO’s V1020 udpXG
AdvancedIO® Systems Inc., the leading provider of configurable 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) connectivity and packet processing solutions for real-time embedded systems, announced an order for over $500,000 from Lockheed Martin Corporation. AdvancedIO’s V1020 udpXG(TM) technology will be used by Lockheed for testing avionics systems for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Lockheed Martin is the largest provider of IT services, systems integration and training to the U.S. Government and the lead contractor on the multi-national F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program. This purchase follows earlier Lockheed orders of the same AdvancedIO product.

Microchip Sells Fab 3 in Puyallup, Washington for $30 Million
Microchip Technology Incorporated (NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced the sale of its idled Fab 3 in Puyallup, Washington. The sale was completed on October 19, 2007, after the Company had received an unsolicited offer during September, 2007 for the facility. The facility was sold for $30 million at a loss of $16.5 million net of income taxes, or an earnings per share impact of 7.4 cents in the September quarter.
