OMG Approves UML Profile for Defense, Real-time Embedded Systems
Members of the Object Management Group(TM) (OMG(TM)) met in Jacksonville, Florida during the week of September 24-28, 2007, sponsored by Adaptive, Sparx Systems and Collaborative Consulting. At this meeting, four new standards finished the adoption process and were later approved by the OMG Board of Directors. In addition, several other proposed specifications advanced in the adoption process. This meeting was co-located with the SOA Consortium.

IBM, MediaTek Team on Ultra Fast Wireless Chipsets for Transmitting HDTV
IBM (NYSE: IBM) and MediaTek Inc. launch a joint initiative to develop ultra fast chipsets that can wirelessly transmit a full-length high definition movie to and from a home PC, hand-held device, retail kiosk or television set nearly as fast as a viewer can push their remote control.

Virage Logic Introduces 65nm SiWare Memory Compilers, Logic Libraries
Virage Logic Corporation (NASDAQ:VIRL), the semiconductor industry’s trusted IP partner and pioneer in Silicon Aware IP(TM), announced the availability of a broad new family of 65-nanometer (nm) products – SiWare Memory compilers and SiWare Logic libraries. The ExpressCard is Powered by Wavesat’s Evolutive(TM) NP7256 chipset, supporting 802.16d+, enabling nomadic and portable devices as defined in the WiMAX ETWG profile. The device also offers the competitive advantage of backward compatibility with IEEE 802.16-2004 fixed WiMAX systems enabling these devices to be seamlessly introduced into existing networks. This product Series offers enhanced indoor reach through uplink subchannelization.

SMIC, Ansoft Debut On-Chip Spiral Inductor Library for RF CMOS Design
