Fujitsu, Vivante Team on Embedded System LSI for Mobile Devices
Fujitsu Limited and Vivante Corporation announced an agreement in principle to jointly develop a system LSI for embedded systems, such as mobile phones and other portable devices. Vivante is a developer and provider of graphics processing units (GPUs) that process three-dimensional graphics for mobile phones and other mobile applications. Vivante’s expertise is in design and development of 2D and 3D GPUs that feature high-speed graphic rendering performance while significantly conserving power.

KDDI, QUALCOMM Create KCP+ Platform for Handset Development
KDDI, in cooperation with QUALCOMM Inc, has completed the development of ‘KCP+,’ an integrated platform that brings together a range of advanced technologies to enable the latest services. The aim is to substantially boost the cost-competitiveness of handset development, now that software is becoming more advanced and complex.

SEMI Reports September Book-to-Bill Ratio of 0.81
North American-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted $1.23 billion in orders in September 2007 (three-month average basis) and a book-to-bill ratio of 0.81 according to the September 2007 Book-to-Bill Report published today by SEMI. A book-to-bill of 0.81 means that $81 worth of orders were received for every $100 of product billed for the month.
