Mentor Graphics, Altera Debut Catapult C Synthesis Accelerated Libraries

The design flow, based on Altera’s Accelerated Libraries for Mentor Graphics’ Catapult® C Synthesis tool, delivers 50-80 percent DSP Fmax performance improvements, provides a low-effort path to dedicated DSP hardware creation, and gives companies a cost-per-channel advantage over expensive, power-hungry discrete digital signal processors for high-performance applications.

GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Unveils VP11, VR11 Single Board Computers
Once again demonstrating the company’s ability to develop and deliver solutions that take advantage of key technologies in order to enable optimum platform performance, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems announced the VP11 and VR11 6U VMEbus single board computers, each featuring a choice of Intel® dual core processors – including the Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor. Designed to meet the requirements of markets including automation, simulation/training, telecommunications, test and measurement and others, while also providing an upgrade path for existing VP9 and VR9 customers, the VR11 is a single slot solution that can optionally be ruggedized (including conduction cooling), while the VP11 is a dual slot solution, delivering additional capability.

Aldec Rolls Out Riviera-PRO 2007.10 for ASIC/FPGA Verification

EZchip Introduces NPA Network Processors for Ethernet Access
EZchip Technologies Ltd. (a subsidiary of LanOptics Ltd) (NASDAQ:LNOP), a fabless semiconductor company providing Ethernet network processors, announced a new family of network processors targeting Ethernet Access applications. Several models of the network processors, named NPA, will be offered in 2008 with combinations of 100-Megabit, 1-Gigabit and 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports with an aggregate throughput of up to 10-Gigabits, at varying price points starting at under $100.

Texas Instruments Creates TPS728185315 LDO for Handheld Devices
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced the first dual-level 200-mA low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator with simple dynamic voltage scaling in a tiny, five-ball chip-scale package. The flexibility of this device benefits applications that require two levels of output voltage regulation for programming of eFUSE or SIM cards with additional memory, such as wireless handsets, PDAs, smart phones, MP3 players and other handheld devices.

UMC 65nm RFCMOS Process Ready for Customer Design-in
UMC (NYSE: UMC), a leading global semiconductor foundry, announced that its 65-nanometer (nm) RFCMOS process is ready for customer design-in. Several customers are engaged for this advanced RF process, which is targeted for next generation wireless system-on-chip (SoC) applications including WiFi, WiMax, wireless USB, and cellular. The RF process is derived directly from UMC’s standard 65nm CMOS logic process, which was qualified in early 2006 and is currently in volume production for a variety of customer products. Full compatibility with UMC’s standard CMOS logic/mixed-mode process enables easier integration of different SoC features such as mixed-mode, memory, analog and RF elements.

Diodes, Inc. Unveils Ultra-Low Dropout Regulators for Portable Apps
