TEK Microsystems Unveils Serial FPDP Core with Virtex-5 FPGA Support
TEK Microsystems, Inc. of Chelmsford MA announced its new Serial FPDP core with support for Xilinx’s Virtex-5 FPGA devices. The sFPDP core is fully compliant to ANSI/VITA 17.1-2003 and provides system developers in real-time imaging, signal processing, data recording and data acquision with high performance industry leading technologies. The new Tekmicro sFPDP V5 core has already been ordered by a large defense integrator and will be shipped this month.

Domosys Ports PowerBUS RHINO, Partners with ADI on Reference Designs
Domosys Corporation, a leading provider of Power Line Communication Technology, announced that Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) and Domosys have entered into an exclusive Development and Distribution Agreement. Keithley Announces Two New Series 2600 SourceMeter Instruments
Keithley Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:KEI), a leader in solutions for emerging measurement needs, announces two new additions to its Series 2600 SourceMeter(R) Instruments to create the industry’s most advanced and cost effective solution for semiconductor parametric analysis and testing. The Models 2635 and 2636 represent a new and unique way of doing parametric analysis at resolutions as fine as 1fa (10-15 amp), which is often required for many semiconductor, optoelectronic, and nanotechnology devices. Moreover, their instrument-based, multi-channel architecture results in a 50 percent lower cost than typical mainframe-based source-measure solutions. Ultra-Mobile Devices Shipment to Reach 95 Million
A whole new class of “always-on” Internet-connected products, collectively termed “Ultra-Mobile Devices” (UMDs), will become popular over the next five years, according to a new report from ABI Research. By appealing to a wide range of buyers they will reach shipments of nearly 95 million units by 2012, and should prove extremely profitable for their makers.

Toshiba Standardizes on Apache’s RedHawk for Power Signoff

Vendors Support Removable Flash Memory Card, Embedded Memory Solution
Micron Technology, Inc., Nokia, Samsung Electronics, Sony Ericsson, Spansion Inc., STMicroelectronics, and Texas Instruments announced that they support the creation of a far-ranging industry specification for removable memory cards and embedded memory solutions being standardized by the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association (JEDEC), a leading open-standards organization in the semiconductor industry. JEDEC is well known for its expertise in the standardization of component technologies and solutions.

UCSC Teams with TTM, Cadence on VLSI Design Training in India
University of California Extension, Santa Cruz (UCSC Extension), U.S.A., has partnered with TTM and Cadence Design Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd, the Indian arm of Cadence Design Systems, Inc. Mistral, Curtiss Wright Power DRDO’s VPX-based Solution
Mistral Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a leading provider of complete technology solutions and professional services in the embedded space, announced that it has enabled the implementation of the first VPX-based solution in the Indian market. DRDO, a research organization of the Indian Ministry of Defence, will be the first to acquire Curtiss Wright’s CHAMP AV-6 quad signal processor VPX engine and the VPX6-185 single board computer from Mistral. Open Kernel Labs Raises $2.15 Million
Open Kernel Labs (OK), a global provider of operating systems and virtualization technology for embedded systems, announced that it has raised US$2.15 million in first round financing. Funded entirely on cash flow from customers since inception, OK selected Neo Technology Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Sydney, Australia, for its initial financing. OK will use the funds to rapidly expand local support services and distribution throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
