LSI Acquires Tarari for $85 Million
LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Tarari, Inc., for approximately $85 million in cash. Tarari is an award winning, privately held maker of silicon and software that provides content and application awareness in packet and message processing, enabling a new class of advanced security and network control for service provider and enterprise networks. Tarari is based in San Diego, Calif. and has approximately 45 employees.

Mentor Graphics Introduces PCIe Controller, AMBA Bridge IPs
Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ:MENT) announced availability of PCI Express(R) (PCIe(R)) Controller and AMBA(R) Bridge intellectual property (IP) solutions for the rapid and cost-effective integration into ASIC and System-On-Chip (SoC) platforms. Featuring a complete suite of PCIe Controllers, including X1 (1-lane), X2 (2-lane), X4 (4-lane), X8 (8-lane) and X16 (16-lane) options, the solutions also include AMBA 3 AXI(TM) and AMBA 2 AHB(TM) Bridges to standard on-chip buses.

XenSource Launches XenExpress OEM Edition for Embedded Virtualization
XenSource, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class virtualization solutions based on the high-performance open source Xen hypervisor, announced XenExpress(TM) OEM Edition, a new embedded virtualization platform targeted at server vendors and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). OEMs Target Commercial OSs
Recently published research by Venture Development Corporation (VDC) indicates that Original Equipment Manufacturers’ (OEMs’) previous development projects using no formal or in-house developed OSs are targets for migration to commercial OS platforms. According to Stephen Balacco, Director of VDC’s Embedded Software Practice, “New development projects represent an opportunity for commercial embedded OS suppliers to capture these OEMs as they look to address increasing functionality that incorporates more powerful silicon and requires evaluation of competing alternative commercial solutions, rather than continue to use in-house developed and or no formal OS environments.”

Wind River Systems, Inc.
