Patent Office Issues Patent to Zeidman Consulting for Simulation
Zeidman Consulting, a premiere Silicon Valley contract research and development firm, has been granted U.S. Patent Number 7,266,490, entitled “Apparatus and Method for Connecting Hardware to a Circuit Simulation.”

Concurrent Debuts IO PMC/722 Dual Display PMC Graphics PMC Adaptor
Concurrent Technologies announces a cost-effective dual display video/graphics PMC based adaptor. The IO PMC/722 is a high-quality, low-power embedded PMC graphics adaptor supporting a variety of Digital Flat Panel (DFP) or analog CRT devices in single or dual display configurations; where the DFP and CRT can be driven simultaneously with the same image or different image sources. The graphic controller’s rich feature set includes a complete 3D rendering suite, hardware support for MPEG/DVD playback, a 2D drawing engine that supports bit block transfers, transparent block transfers, color expansion, and line draw. The IO PMC/722 is designed to add graphics functionality into a single-width PMC slot on the host board, e.g. CompactPCI(R) or VME, where functionality, power, space and cost are key elements. Commercial and extended temperature versions are now available and ruggedized, conduction-cooled or air-cooled, versions will be available shortly. Applications for this family of boards are expected within the defence, industrial control, transportation and various embedded markets.

D2Audio Releases Third Generation Digital Audio Engine Platform
The D2Audio(R) Corporation announced the release of its third generation Digital Audio Engine(TM) (DAE) platform, the DAE-3(TM) IC, targeting Media PC applications. The D2Audio DAE-3, the company’s second generation technology for the Media PC, is able to produce true convergence in Media PCs by condensing four or more audio video components into a single slim box. Only manufacturers using D2Audio technology are able to combine a home theater audio video receiver, pre-amplifier, Class D amplifier, CD, DVD, Digital Video Recorder (DVR), cable box, advanced High Definition TV tuner & a PC with Internet connectivity into one slim box.

Toshiba Introduces 1.8-Inch 160GB Hard Disk Drive

Texas Instruments Battery Charger Front-end ICs Offer Protection
Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced a family of battery charger front-end integrated circuits, which dramatically increases protection when charging a cell phone or other portable electronic device. The 2 mm x 2 mm safety circuits protect a system from input over-voltage, over-current and battery over-voltage conditions, which may result from a power spike during charging, or a defective or incorrect wall adapter.

CSR Launches Sixth Generation Bluetooth Silicon for Bluetooth
CSR (LSE:CSR) launched its sixth generation of BlueCore silicon for Bluetooth. BlueCore6 includes both industry-leading radio performance and power consumption, as well as full support for the latest version (v2.1+EDR) of the Bluetooth specification. Included in BlueCore6 is CSR’s AuriStream(TM) technology, a radical improvement to the way Bluetooth handles voice traffic; AuriStream provides toll quality voice calls and is capable of a 40% reduction in power consumption in BlueCore6-ROM compared with standard Bluetooth voice transmission methods. Volume production will commence in Q1 2008.

Altera Announces Dates, Locations of SOPC World in Asia Pacific
Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced the dates and locations of its annual SOPC World conference in Asia Pacific. The conference will be held in October and November across six cities in Asia Pacific. Comprised of technical sessions and exhibitions, system designers will learn how to meet their business and technical goals as complexity continues to rise, product lifecycles shorten, and time-to-profit timelines shrink. Spectrum Control Introduces Metric Threaded EMI Filters
