Infineon Acquires LSI Mobility Products Group for $450 Million
LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its mobility products business to Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX) for $450 million in cash, plus a performance-based payment of up to $50 million payable in the first quarter of 2009. The sale is the result of a strategic review within LSI of its business portfolio following its merger with Agere Systems on April 2, 2007. LSI expects to benefit from the sale by realigning its resources to pursue growth opportunities for its storage systems and storage and networking semiconductor businesses.

Long Term Evolution, Ultra Mobile Broadband, WiMAX Key to Wireless 4G
Although an official definition of wireless 4G technology will not be released until the 2008/2009 timeframe in the form of the ITU’s IMT-Advanced requirements, there are already clear contenders for the designation, reports In-Stat. The primary 4G technologies of the future are expected to be Long Term Evolution (LTE), Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB), and IEEE 802.16m WiMAX, the high-tech market research firm says.

Agilent Updates Antenna Modeling Design with Hearing-Aid Compatibility
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) announced the next release of its Antenna Modeling Design System (AMDS), now containing new capabilities to verify that handheld wireless devices are equipped with hearing-aid compatibility.
