MontaVista Reveals Vision Embedded Linux Developers Conference Speakers
MontaVista(R) Software, Inc., the leading provider of Linux(R) for intelligent devices and communications infrastructure, announced the lineup of industry experts and special events for the upcoming Vision 2007 Embedded Linux Developers Conference. Sun Microsystems Launches UltraSPARC T2 Commodity Microprocessor
Sun Microsystems, Inc., (NASDAQ: SUNW) announced the world’s fastest commodity microprocessor, the UltraSPARC T2, as the cornerstone of its merchant portfolio of microelectronics. Available for sale separate from Sun’s own systems, this new processor is the industry’s first volume processor with eight cores and eight threads per core. Formerly known as the “Niagara 2″ project, the UltraSPARC T2′s world-record performance raises the bar on commodity processors while boasting the industry’s highest energy efficiency per thread. With each thread capable of running its own operating system, the chip delivers a whopping 64-way system on a single chip. Sun will provide the UltraSPARC T2 processor design to the free and open source community via the GPL license.

TI Debuts ADS5474 14-bit 400 MSPS Analog-to-Digital Converter
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced the industry’s fastest monolithic 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) at 400 mega samples per second (MSPS). The new ADC provides unmatched performance of 11.1 effective number of bits (ENOB) at this speed, enabling high-bandwidth applications such as test and measurement instrumentation, software-defined radio, radar systems and communication instrumentation that were previously confined to lesser resolution ADCs.

Hitachi Communication, Alvarion to Develop Mobile WiMAX System
Hitachi Communication Technologies Ltd. (headquartered in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, Japan) President & CEO Eiji Aoki (“Hitachi Com”) and Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALVR) (headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel) President & CEO Tzvika Friedman (“Alvarion”) have agreed to develop Broadband Mobile Wireless Access System using Mobile WiMAX technology jointly in Japan and overseas market.

PGI Compilers Target Quad-Core AMD Barcelona Opteron Processors
The Portland Group(R), a wholly-owned subsidiary of STMicroelectronics and leading supplier of compilers for high-performance computing (HPC), announced that PGI compilers and development tools now generate code targeted at Quad-Core AMD Opteron(TM) processors, code-named “Barcelona”. PGI and AMD are cooperating to provide these compilers to independent software vendors and customers interested in migrating and tuning applications for AMD’s upcoming native quad-core processor.

Global Unichip Selects Apache RedHawk for 65nm Signoff Flow
