Cypress Joins Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium
The Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC) announced that Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) has joined EEMBC as a member of the consortium’s workgroup focused on developing multicore and system-level benchmarks for automotive/industrial applications.

AMD Selects Embedded BIOS with StrongFrame for Reference Design Kit
General Software, Inc. was selected by AMD (NYSE:AMD) to provide its Embedded BIOS(R) with StrongFrame(TM) Technology firmware for the AMD Geode(TM) LX UVC Reference Design Kit (RDK), it was announced. The AMD Geode LX UVC RDK brings together a small form factor design, x86 application compatibility, high processor performance and low power consumption to provide a complete product development solution enabling the quick and efficient creation of ultra-value products. These include single board computers (SBCs), point-of-sale (POS) devices, corporate thin clients, network appliances and kiosks.

NASA Selects Tekmicro’s VXS Satellite Communications Development System
TEK Microsystems, Inc. announced it has received an initial order from the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH for its first VXS-based satellite communications development system. The system will be used for Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) compatibility test sets as part of the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program. NASA’s SCaN Program is responsible for providing communications and navigation services to the Agency’s flight missions and for supplying terrestrial communications needs. The initial order is part of a proof-of-concept system. Successful development may result in additional orders.
