SEMI Reports June Book-to-Bill Ratio of 0.94
North American-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted $1.65 billion in orders in June 2007 (three-month average basis) and a book-to-bill ratio of 0.94 according to the June 2007 Book-to-Bill Report published today by SEMI. A book-to-bill of 0.94 means that $94 worth of orders were received for every $100 of product billed for the month.
ON Semiconductor Creates NCP5623 Tiny Triple-Output LED Driver
ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN), a global leader in power semiconductor solutions, introduced the NCP5623 – a high efficiency triple output LED driver with I2C interface and built-in gradual dimming. The device is specifically designed to drive tricolor RGB (red, green, blue) LEDs for fun lighting or enhanced LCD backlighting in portable applications such as cell phones and MP3 players. Offered in the compact LLGA-12 package, the NCP5623 is the smallest RGB LED charge pump driver housed in a non-bump plastic package on the market today.
Keithley, CEA Leti Research Nanotechnology, Semiconductor Materials
Keithley Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:KEI), a leader in solutions for emerging measurement needs, announced that it has entered into a Joint Development Partnership (JDP) surrounding semiconductor device material testing technology with CEA Leti, one of the world’s most sophisticated semiconductor development laboratories. The JDP calls for Keithley and CEA Leti to research methods for characterizing advanced semiconductor materials and devices that support DC, high frequency, and RF-level signals on both micro- and nano-level structures. CEA Leti will use Keithley RF-enabled semiconductor test equipment as part of its broad portfolio of research projects in order to expand and enhance understanding of the performance of semiconductor devices that perform at the highest levels.
ST Selects Lightspeed Logic’s Reconfigurable Logic IP for 65nm, 45nm
Lightspeed Logic, the leading provider of mask reconfigurable IP, announced that STMicroelectronics has selected Lightspeed Logic’s Reconfigurable Logic IP for use at 65nm and below. In addition to providing increased flexibility in chip architecture, significant reduction in design cost and rapid time-to-market, the regular structure of the tile-based architecture helps reduce lithography and stress-related variability challenges at nanometer scale process nodes.
Squire SVI_MGC SS7 Media Gateway Controller Powers Cisco Gateway
Squire Technologies Ltd, provider of carrier-grade SS7 and VoIP signalling technology, has announced the development of the software only SVI_MGC SS7 Media Gateway Controller with full support for Cisco SS7 over IP signalling. Building on the success of the globally deployed SVI_MGC, Squire now offers customers full SS7 interconnect on incumbent Cisco gateway networks in a software only solution. This is a more cost-effective alternative to the PGW2200 and other options available to network operators looking to migrate call traffic to SS7 through Cisco gateways.
FormFactor to Manufacture Keithley Parametric Test Probe Cards
Keithley Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:KEI), a leader in solutions for emerging measurement needs, announced that it has qualified FormFactor, Inc., (Nasdaq:FORM), Livermore, California, to manufacture high performance parametric test probe cards for Keithley’s semiconductor parametric testers. FormFactor’s probe cards will be used with Keithley S600 Series parametric testers to measure very low-level DC currents as well as standard DC parametric tests on pins that contact a semiconductor wafer. Wafer fabricators and foundries employ S600 Series testers to qualify wafers for assembly and packaging as well as process monitoring.
