Ubiquisys has been ranked at the top of a new femtocell equipment Vendor Matrix just released by ABI Research. ip.access ltd and RadioFrame Networks, Inc. claimed the second and third spots in the company’s most recent evaluation of worldwide femtocell equipment vendors.

NXP Introduces Fail-Safe, System Basis Chips for Cars
NXP, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, launched the world’s first family of fail-safe CAN-LIN system basis chips (SBCs) with integrated diagnostics for smarter Electronic Control Units (ECUs), raising the industry standard for in-vehicle networking. NXP has launched two new fail-safe SBCs as part of this family: the UJA1061 fault-tolerant CAN/LIN SBC and, the UJA1065 high-speed CAN/LIN SBC.

ADI Engineering Debuts Development Platform for Intel IXP435 Processor
ADI Engineering, Inc., a leading provider of reference platforms, platform derivatives, and complete custom product solutions based on Intel(R) network processors, announced immediate availability of a new CPU module based on the Intel(R) IXP435 network processor. In partnership with Novatec Corporation, ADI Engineering is offering the NTNP435C board for use as an IXP435 evaluation and development platform, as well as a low-cost CPU module for OEM applications of the IXP435.

eSilicon Creates HardCore Program for ARM Core-Based Chips
eSilicon Corporation, a pioneering semiconductor Value Chain Producer (VCP), launched the eSilicon HardCore(TM) Program, which offers a broad portfolio of pre-hardened ARM(R) processor cores. The Program, which will also offer cores from other IP suppliers, provides easy-to-integrate hard macrocells that are optimized for performance, power or area, reducing design risk while enabling faster time-to-market.

ABI Research Reviews European Market for WiMAX
WiMAX networks in Europe are being deployed in most countries using spectrum at 3.5 GHz. However these are mostly confined to offering fixed wireless services. The mobile version of WiMAX (IEEE802.16e-2005) is also being deployed at 3.5 GHz and has been trialed in The Netherlands using 2.6 GHz spectrum. This latter is earmarked as the UMTS extension band for 3G operators to use.

BitTorrent Rolls Out Software Development Kit for CE Devices
BitTorrent, the global standard for high-quality content delivery on the Internet, announced the availability of its Software Development Kit (SDK) for consumer electronics devices. The goal of BitTorrent’s Software Licensing and related Device Certification Program is to ensure a superior entertainment experience for users of a growing array of CE products integrating BitTorrent’s technology. BitTorrent is enabling hardware manufacturers to bundle, optimize, embed or develop integrated content delivery services for products such as Network-Attached Storage (NAS) devices, set-top boxes, digital media adapters and routers.
