Mentor Graphics Acquires Sierra Design Automation for $90 Million
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) announced it has acquired Sierra Design Automation (Santa Clara, Calif.), a leading provider of high-performance place and route solutions. The company was purchased for $90 million, payable 50 percent in cash and 50 percent in Mentor Graphics common stock.

Telelogic’s Board Recommends Merger with IBM
The Board of Directors of Telelogic AB (publ) issued a statement in relation to the public offer from International Business Machines Corporation. Bo Dimert, Chairman of the Board of Telelogic, said: “After carefully evaluating the Offer and considering the future prospects of Telelogic, it is the Board’s opinion that the transaction is favourable to our shareholders. Therefore, the Board unanimously recommends this Offer. By combining with IBM, Telelogic will have a greater opportunity to accelerate its growth globally and be able to provide customers a more comprehensive solution for complex software development.”

Freescale Unveils Thinnest 3-Axis Digital-Output Accelerometer
Freescale Semiconductor expanded its micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS)-based sensor portfolio with a 3-axis digital-output accelerometer that is 77 percent smaller than previous industry offerings. The world’s thinnest accelerometer, the MMA7450L is available in a 0.8 mm thin plastic land grid array (LGA) package designed to meet the growing space constraints of feature-rich portable devices. Sensory Debuts Speech Recognition IC with One Time Programmable Memory

Ramtron Announces Grade 1 AEC-Q100 Automotive FRAM Memory
Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR), a leading developer and supplier of non-volatile ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) and integrated semiconductor products, has expanded its line of FRAM Grade 1 automotive memory products with the qualification of an additional serial FRAM device to operate at +125 degrees Celsius (C). The FM25CL64-GA – a 3-volt, 64-kilobit (Kb) FRAM with a high-speed serial peripheral interface (SPI) – is now Grade 1 AEC-Q100 qualified, making it suitable for automotive applications under the hood, as well as many others in the passenger cab. GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Flies Aviation Solutions to Paris Air Show
At this year’s International Paris Air Show (Le Bourget, Paris: June 18 – 24) GE Fanuc Embedded Systems will demonstrate the company’s broadening range of rugged COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) solutions for the aviation industry. Located at Hall 4, booth C3, the company will showcase its recently-announced family of 6U CompactPCI rugged, low power dissipation single board computers featuring Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo or Core(TM) Duo processors. The new family supports both a 32- and 64-bit processor architecture, and is designed to operate in a temperature range of -40°C to +75°C (depending on configured options), with the CR11 being optionally available as a rugged version with stiffener bars and wedge locks or in conduction-cooled form.
