TI to Give Away MSP430 Collector’s Kit at 430 Day Embedded Event
Building on the phenomenal attendance of over 10,000 people at the 2006 worldwide MSP430 Day events and continuing to make embedded design easier than ever, Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) (TI) has announced that it will give away MSP430 Collector’s Kits to attendees of the 2007 430 Day events, held at over 100 locations worldwide beginning June 15. The Collector’s Kit includes a limited edition eZ430-compatible capacitive touch target board, only available at 430 Day 2007, plus an eZ430-F2013 microcontroller (MCU) development tool to program the target board.

ITC Issues Remedy for Qualcomm-Broadcom Patent Infringement Lawsuit
Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, announced that the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has ordered that certain Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) chips, and future downstream products such as cellular phones that incorporate those chips, that infringe a Broadcom(R) patent be barred from importation into the U.S. The ITC also entered a Cease and Desist Order prohibiting Qualcomm from engaging in certain activities related to the infringing chips.

ADLINK Technology announces the addition of the aTCA-6892 processor blade to its full line of AdvancedTCA(R) building blocks. The aTCA-6892 features dual 4 Gbps Fiber Channel (FC) links powered by the Qlogic EP2432 PCI-E fiber channel controller, offers remote setup, and can be configured with the FC links at the front panel via SFP optical transceivers, or to the backplane with Zone 2 connectors, supporting PICMG 3.1 option 4/7 connectivity. HP Ranks First in Total Disk Storage Systems
HP (NYSE:HPQ) has reclaimed the No. 1 position in worldwide total disk storage systems revenue from IBM, with 20.1 percent market share, according to market data for the first calendar quarter of 2007 released today by IDC.(1) HP additionally held the No. 1 position in several other categories including the open storage area network (SAN) market, which includes fibre channel and iSCSI, where HP was the leader in open SAN shipments with 14.6 percent share worldwide.(2) In the internal disk storage systems category, HP owned the top position, with 35.8 percent revenue share.

MINI Cooper Features Factory-Installed Digital HD Radio
MINI USA is now offering a factory-installed digital HD Radio receiver with FM multicasting capability as an option in the all-new 2007 MINI Cooper and Cooper S hardtops, produced from June 2007. MINI joins its sister brand, BMW to be only one of two automotive brands to currently offer HD Radio technology to its customers.

Design Automation Conference 2007 Attracts Over 5100 People
The 44th Design Automation Conference (DAC), the electronic design automation (EDA) industry’s premier event, has attracted thousands to the San Diego Convention Center this week. Preliminary numbers indicate total attendance has surpassed 5,100 so far this week, with attendees visiting the nearly 250 exhibitors represented. Today, 74 percent of this year’s exhibitors committed to booth space for next year’s conference to be held in Anaheim, Calif., June 9-13, 2008, with several requesting larger space for next year.
