MediaTek Integrates Qflix Technology into Optical Storage Chipset
Sonic Solutions(R) (NASDAQ:SNIC) announced that MediaTek (TSE:2454) (“MediaTek”), a market leader in fabless semiconductor technology for wireless communications and digital media solutions, is implementing CSS recording into the latest chipsets, which can ensure the Qflix(TM) compatibility of optical storage drives. Qflix technology enables the burning of Internet video content to DVD with Content Scramble System (CSS) encryption – the same copy protection found on commercially released DVDs. Korean Universities License Tensilica’s Xtensa Configurable Processor
Tensilica(R), Inc., announced that two Korean universities have licensed its Xtensa(R) configurable processor. The CoSoC (Center of System on Chip design technology) of Seoul National University is using the Xtensa processor in the classroom and has announced their third annual SOC (system-on-chip) design contest, which will, for the first time, accept designs that use Xtensa processors. The KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) has licensed the Xtensa configurable processor to develop multimedia SOC designs.

Imperial College Professor Receives Silver Medal Award

The award, which was presented by Academy President Lord Browne of Madingley in the presence of Senior Fellow, HRH The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh KG KT, was made at the Academy Awards Dinner held in London on 5th June 2007.
