DAC Features UML for SoC Design Workshop
The Design Automation Conference (DAC), the electronic design automation (EDA) industry’s premier event, announced the Fourth International Workshop for Unified Modeling Language(TM) (UML) for System-on-Chip (SoC) Design will be held Sunday, June 3, from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the San Diego Convention Center during the 44th DAC. Featuring designers from around the globe, the workshop will provide attendees an opportunity to share experiences, exchange information and discuss the latest applications of UML in SoC design.

Ponte Solutions to Discuss DFM Issues at DAC
Ponte Solutions(TM) announces the “Bridge Club: — a series of wide-open Ask the Expert — discussions about semiconductor design and manufacturing practices. Bridge Club sessions will be held twice per day, June 4-6, and once on Thursday morning June 7, during the Design Automation Conference (DAC) in Ponte’s Booth No. 4360. A unique no-spin forum, the Bridge Club, features leading industry experts from design, business, and fab teams taking unabridged and uncensored questions from the DAC floor. No slick presentations or agendas will be allowed – just a whiteboard and open dialogue about the hottest topics that impact the design and manufacturing community today.

Onset Computer Debuts Alarm, Readout Tool for HOBO Data Loggers
Onset Computer Corporation, the world leader in data logging solutions, announced the Alarm and Readout Tool, a plug-in software module for use with HOBOware Pro(R) software. The new Alarm and Readout Tool automatically notifies users via cell phone text messages or email when temperature, humidity and other conditions exceed user-defined limits. It also enables data from networked HOBO data loggers to be automatically offloaded and stored onto a centralized computer. This is particularly useful in applications where numerous locations are being monitored throughout a facility.

Measurement Computing Introduces TracerDAQ Pro for Data Acquisition
Measurement Computing Corporation, the market leader in low-cost data acquisition, announced the release of TracerDAQ Pro – a greatly enhanced version of TracerDAQ – designed for data acquisition professionals. TracerDAQ was introduced in January 2004 as a Strip Chart Recorder and Data Logger software application to ship with Measurement Computing’s USB products. It was designed for out-of-the-box, quick-time-to-first measurement, without requiring the user to write code.

Strategic Test Rolls Out 4 Ultrafast Digital Pattern Generator Boards
Strategic Test has released four new Digital Pattern Generator boards for PC’s with up to 32 Gigabit memory, maximum clock rates of 40 MHz, 10 MHz or 5 MHz, and a choice of 16- or 32-bit widths. Uniquely, each 4-bit (nibble) can be programmed with a different HIGH and LOW output level from –2 V to +10 V in 10 mV increments. This output range can generate signals compatible with ECL, PECL, TTL, LVDS, LVTTL, CMOS and LVCMOS. Compared to traditional instruments, the UF2-7200 series is less expensive, easier to use and eliminates the need for multiple instruments to produce different signal levels.

Carbon OnDemand to Launch at DAC
Carbon Design Systems, the leading supplier of tools for the automatic creation, validation, and deployment of virtual hardware models, announced that it will be introducing revolutionary performance technology at this year’s Design Automation Conference. This new technology, called Carbon OnDemand, dramatically and automatically improves the performance of system platforms containing Carbon Models while still retaining 100% cycle accuracy.

DesignWare Switch IP for PCI Express Passes PCI-SIG Compliance Testing
Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, announced that its DesignWare(R) Switch intellectual property (IP) for PCI Express(R) has passed compliance testing at the PCI-Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG(R)) Compliance Workshop. Compliance helps ensure interoperability while minimizing risk and reducing time to market for designers using complex, high performance PCI Express interfaces. The DesignWare Switch IP for PCI Express is used to power Agilent Technologies’ Protocol Test Card (PTC), one of three “Gold Tests” required by PCI-SIG for products to achieve compliance and be listed on PCI-SIG’s Integrators List.

Open-Silicon Lowers ASICs Manufacturing Cost with Synopsys DFT MAX
Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, announced that Open-Silicon, a leading supplier of predictable, reliable and cost-effective ASIC solutions, has adopted Synopsys’ DFT MAX scan compression solution to substantially reduce the cost of testing ASICs. DFT MAX lowers test costs by significantly reducing the amount of time and data required to test digital circuits. Open-Silicon requires scan compression solutions for 130-, 90- and 65-nanometer (nm) designs that are easy to implement and have minimal impact on their established design flows. Using DFT MAX, Open-Silicon’s design team easily achieved a 90-percent test application time reduction for scan testing. The ease of implementation and predictable results solidified Open Silicon’s decision to adopt DFT MAX for use with its existing Galaxy(TM) Design Platform flows.
