WTC Ranks MEMS Companies
WTC has updated its MEMS market data with a global bottom-up survey of the top 30 MEMS companies. WTC identified and interviewed over 60 major organizations during February and March 2007 regarding their current MEMS revenues, products, applications and views of the major changes in the industry. The results are a combination of publicly available figures and validated estimates based on shipments and average selling prices.
Mobile Broadband Consumer Electronics to Reach 50 Million
No sooner has the market for consumer electronics devices incorporating Wi-Fi begun to gain real traction than another, based on high-speed connections via 3G cellular technologies or mobile WiMAX, is starting to take shape. According to a new study from ABI Research, portable consumer electronics â€“ digital cameras, media players, portable game devices, and more â€“ are beginning to offer direct mobile broadband connections to the Internet. By 2012, annual shipments of such devices are expected to approach 50 million.

TI Rolls Out Precision Logarithmic Amplifier
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced a DC precision, high-speed (1 micro-second rise and fall time), precision logarithmic amplifier that computes the logarithm or log-ratio of an input current or voltage relative to a reference current or voltage. The LOG114 can handle eight decades of dynamic range and the completely tested log function allows use without external components. The small size of the LOG114 makes it a good fit for single-supply systems with a limited number of supply rails.
USPTO Awards Patent to Luminescent for Inverse Lithography Technology
Luminescent Technologies, Inc., a provider of revolutionary lithography-enhancement products to the semiconductor industry, has bolstered its intellectual property portfolio with a second patent granted for the company’s Inverse Lithography Technology (ILT), a ground-breaking resolution enhancement technology (RET) solution. The new patent (No. 7,178,127 B2) was issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Feb. 13, 2007. It covers the use of level-set methods when applied to advanced lithography applications.
DRS Technologies to Produce Embedded Diagnostic Kits for Tanks
DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) announced that it received a $14 million contract to produce Sidecar(TM) Embedded Diagnostic Kits for the U.S. Marine Corps’ (USMC) entire fleet of battle tanks. The contract was awarded to DRS by the U.S. Army’s Tank & Automotive Command (TACOM) in Warren, Michigan, on behalf of the USMC.

Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) and IPV Limited announced that they will hold demonstrations of Cell Technology for the professional video market at NAB2007, April 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
