Sun Acquires Mobile Java Assets from SavaJe
Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) and SavaJe Technologies announced that the two companies have entered into a definitive agreement pursuant to which Sun will acquire SavaJe’s intellectual property assets. Additional information regarding the acquisition of these assets will be unveiled at the annual JavaOne Conference being held in San Francisco, May 8-11, 2007. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of Sun’s 2007 fiscal year which began on April 2, 2007. The terms of the deal were not disclosed as the transaction is immaterial to Sun’s earnings per share.

EMX Creates First UV Sensor with Calibration Feature
EMX Industries Inc., a manufacturer of sensors for industrial automation, announces the UVX-300-GC luminescence sensor, the first UV (ultraviolet light) sensor with a calibration function. Calibration is made possible through the use of proprietary software algorithms. The UVX-300-GC is the only UV luminescence sensor on the market with the computing power to run these complex algorithms.

ATEME Introduces Kyrion HD Encoders, Transcoders
ATEME(TM) SA, an acknowledged leader in MPEG-4 video compression solutions, announced the Kyrion(R) family of HD encoders and transcoders, to be shown for the first time at NAB 2007. Kyrion is the world’s first MPEG-4/AVC solution to target a broad range of DTV applications, all using unique ATEME technology for unmatched picture quality and upgradeability.

Nanometrics Settles Patent Litigation with Nova Measuring Instruments
Nanometrics Incorporated (Nasdaq:NANO), a leading supplier of advanced metrology equipment to the semiconductor industry, announced it has reached a settlement of the three patent suits between Nanometrics and Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. During a settlement conference on April 11, 2007, Nanometrics and Nova Measuring agreed to dismiss, without prejudice, all pending patent litigation between the two parties, and have entered into a covenant not to sue one another for any patent for a period of one year.

QUALCOMM Rejects Nokia’s Settlement Offer
QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) yesterday notified Nokia that it has rejected Nokia’s $20 million payment and the accompanying multiple pages of terms upon which Nokia conditioned its payment. Nokia tendered the money ostensibly as an advance payment of royalties to QUALCOMM for the quarter ending June 30. Both the amount of the payment and the terms that Nokia sought to unilaterally impose in connection with it are at odds with the parties’ 2001 license agreement.

NTS Manages Vibration Lab for Eaton

This agreement allows NTS’ Detroit, Michigan laboratory to service Eaton and significantly expand its test capabilities.

Dongbu Leads with Image Signal Processor Design Library
Dongbu Electronics disclosed it has led the foundry industry in the development of an Image Signal Processor (ISP) design library that speeds the design of CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) devices at the 130nm node while also improving their image quality. Available at no charge to Dongbu customers, the new ISP library shrinks the development time of CIS devices by more than six months, thereby accelerating the time to bring high-quality, low-cost CIS imaging to mobile handset applications.
