RF Engines Optimizes ChannelCore64 DDC Core for Xilinx Virtex4
RF Engines Limited (RFEL), the supplier of high performance FPGA-based design solutions, has optimized its award-winning ChannelCore64 for the Xilinx Virtex4 FPGA. This fully flexible 64-channel digital down-conversion (DDC) core allows designers to replace up to 16 specialist DDC ASIC devices with a single IP core for FPGA, significantly reducing board area, lowering power consumption, and increasing flexibility. The approach represents a major cost saving over traditional methods, with savings becoming more significant as the number of channels increases. ChannelCore64 is targeted at applications such as wireless base stations, satellite ground stations, and other multi-channel radio receivers.

Leica Geosystems Rolls Out GPS Spider 2.3.0 Software
Leica Geosystems, Inc. introduced updated GPS Spider software for GNSS networks and reference stations. The new software provides an option to either operate with a secondary backup communication line (channel) that can be automatically used as fallback in case a primary line fails; or set up a secondary receiver with independent communication, allowing for maximum redundancy, reliability and availability. An enhanced communication channel status reporting complements this feature. Furthermore, the raw data quality control has been expanded to now fully support quality checking of all incoming raw data streams and also to independently apply limit checks for GLONASS data, an attribute already available for GPS.

Leica Geosystems Updates GNSS QC Software
Leica Geosystems, Inc. recently introduced GNSS QC Version 1.3 (V1.3 – Windows(R) Vista(R) operating system compatible), a stand-alone software that runs alongside Leica GPS Spider or similar reference station software programs to perform automatic quality checking and reporting of the logged RINEX data.
