Recently published research by Venture Development Corporation (VDC) indicates increasing adoption of Linux in embedded system development projects. However, suppliers of branded commercial embedded Linux solutions will continue to be challenged in differentiating their Linux solutions from what is publicly available and demonstrating real value in order to maintain a premium for their products and support.

Teradyne Unveils J750Ex Test System for Microcontrollers, SoC
Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER), a world leader in high efficiency, low-cost test, will unveil and demonstrate for the first time the new J750Ex(TM) that delivers a step function improvement in throughput and test economics. The system will be shown at SEMICON China, March 21 – 23, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, Shanghai. QUALCOMM, Broadcom Dismiss Claims in Two Lawsuits
QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) announced an agreement with Broadcom to dismiss without prejudice all patent-related claims and counterclaims, and to dismiss with prejudice all trade secret misappropriation claims asserted by either party in two lawsuits that were pending in San Diego Federal Court (Case Nos. 05 CV 1392 and 05 CV 0660).

Cypress Reduces EMI with CY25400 PREMIS 4-PLL Timing Chip
Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) introduced the latest member of its PREMIS(TM) (Peak Reducing EMI Solutions) family of spread-spectrum timing solutions. The new CY25400 is the industry’s first 4-PLL (phase-locked loop) timing device with two spread-spectrum PLLs to reduce electro-magnetic emissions (EMI). The new device saves cost by eliminating shielding, ferrite beads and chokes often used to address EMI issues.

SanDisk Introduces 32G 2.5-Inch SATA Solid State Drive
SanDisk(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) broadened its solid state drive (SSD) product line for the portable computer market with the introduction of a 32-gigabyte (GB)1, 2.5-inch Serial ATA (SATA) interface model, compatible with most mainstream notebook designs. Coming just two months after SanDisk introduced a 1.8-inch SSD for ultraportable notebooks, the 2.5-inch SSD is now available to PC manufacturers as a drop-in replacement for hard disk drives.

Echelon, Allied Digital Control India with LonWorks
Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ:ELON) announced a strategic alliance with leading systems integrator and IT infrastructure management services provider Allied Digital Services Limited to provide open networking technology to the real estate market in India. Echelon’s LonWorks(R) technology provides networking of everyday devices like pumps, thermostats and lights allowing products from a multitude of manufacturers to be integrated into a single open system.

AMREL Releases Three New Programmable Switch Mode Power Supplies

RadioScape Supports Digital Radio Switch-on in France
RadioScape announced that it will immediately extend its current multi-standard radio product line to support all digital standards required for the French market. This will enable the development of multi-standard radio receivers capable of supporting DAB based standards including T-DMB and DAB+, as well as DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale), and current analogue standards AM and FM.

RF Engines to Increase Engineering Staff by 25%
RF Engines Limited (RFEL), the supplier of high performance FPGA-based design solutions, reports that it is on a major growth phase for 2007. The company, based on the Isle of Wight, UK is looking to expand its technical team in the VHDL and system design areas, by around 25% during the current year.

EVE Appoints William Addi as CFO
William Addi has been appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at EVE, reporting to Dr. Luc Burgun, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President. Addi started his career as a senior audit manager at KPMG in Los Angeles, Lyon and Paris, France, and held a series of increasingly responsible international finance and management positions. He then served as CFO of companies in the software and retail industries, managing revenues in the hundreds of million dollars.
