TED Unveils Virtex-5 LX Multi-Application Evaluation Platform
Tokyo Electron Device, Ltd. (TED), announced it has developed the highest performance multi-application evaluation platform for the Xilinx(R) Virtex-5 LX 330 and its family, which is the industry’s highest density and highest performance FPGA in the market. TED’s new Virtex-5 LX Multi-Application Evaluation Platform enables efficient design and evaluation of a wide range of high-speed applications, including consumer products such as high definition televisions, set-top boxes and printers, as well as telecommunications equipment, medical devices and miscellaneous industrial equipment.

ADI Blackfin Scores in EEMBC C Benchmarks
Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI) announced certified results for the Blackfin(R) BF533 processor in a wide range of tests performed by the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC). ADI’s Blackfin demonstrated strong performance in 11 EEMBC(R) benchmark ratings, which test for specific capabilities in embedded communications, networking, consumer, office automation, automotive, industrial and digital entertainment applications. All of the tests were run using EEMBC’s “out-of-the-box” C code, which demonstrates Blackfin’s microprocessor and C compiler performance.

Atmel Extends ARM7-Powered Microcontrollers to 512KB
Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), announced 512K byte dual-bank Flash memory extensions to its AT91SAM7S, SAM7X and SAM7XC microcontrollers based on the ARM7TDMI(R) processor core. Doubling the Flash memory density from 256K bytes to 512K bytes gives software engineers the capacity to integrate new features for their next-generation products and true in-application programming at an additional cost of less than 20%.

Nova Enhances Scatterometry Modeling and Development Tool
Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. (Nasdaq: NVMI), provider of leading edge stand-alone metrology and the market leader of integrated metrology solutions to the semiconductor process control market, released a new version of its NovaMARS(TM) modeling software tool. The NovaMARS provides an automatic and easy to use solution for advanced structure modeling and application development for the 45nm technology node and beyond. The new version of NovaMARS introduces the concept of Process Oriented Modeling Flexibility (POMF). With POMF, process engineers can harness the power and flexibility of the tool to develop their own scatterometry applications by themselves thus keeping the details of their process within the fab.

TI AR7 Gateway Passes DSL Forum’s TR-100 Interoperability Test
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) [NYSE: TXN] announced its AR7 family of residential gateway solutions demonstrated rate and reach fulfillment with two of the industry’s most widely deployed Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers (DSLAMs) in Annex A, according to DSL Forum Working Text 100 (WT-100).

Sprint Certifies Digi EV-DO Cellular Router
Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) announced that its EV-DO Rev A version of the ConnectPort(TM) WAN VPN is now certified by Sprint. The ConnectPort WAN VPN is the industry’s first upgradeable commercial-grade cellular router to be certified on Sprint’s EV-DO Rev A wireless network, and is now certified by two of the three major U.S. carriers. With broadband download and upload speeds, it provides wireless connections to remote sites and devices at DSL speeds.

Xilinx Ships Virtex-5 LX330T FPGA with Serial Transceivers
Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX), announced delivery of the Virtex(TM)-5 LX330T device, the industry’s largest FPGA with high-speed serial transceivers. The Virtex-5 LX330T device delivers both high performance and low power using an advanced power-saving 65nm process technology and ultra-fast ExpressFabric(TM) technology. The Virtex-5 LX330T device extends the density leadership previously held by the Virtex-5 LX330 device announced last year, combining the industry’s lowest power serial transceivers, consuming less than 100mW per channel at 3.2Gbps, and the industry’s only built-in PCI Express(TM) endpoint and tri-mode Ethernet MAC blocks. The ratio of IO, memory, and logic density allows the Virtex-5 LX330T device to address ASIC prototyping and development, wired and wireless communications, and test and measurement application requirements.

Global Unichip Adopts Magma Quartz Verification for 65nm Tapeout
Magma(R) Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of semiconductor design software, announced that Global Unichip Corp. (GUC) (TWO:3443), a leading system-on-chip (SoC) design foundry, used Magma’s Quartz(TM) DRC Litho physical verification product for the first 65-nanometer (nm) tapeout by a Taiwan-based design company. Already a user of Magma’s IC implementation software, GUC used Quartz DRC Litho to quickly and automatically identify hotspots. This capability is critical to ensuring manufacturability in nanometer designs. GUC adopted the Magma software to support its growing focus on deep submicron design services.
