Simucad Introduces Real-Time Remix EDA Licensing Model
All too often, expensive EDA tools sit idle on customers’ systems waiting for important but occasional use. These idle tools represent a significant investment that is never fully utilized. At the same time, the design process may be slowed due to a shortage of licenses for tools currently required within the design flow. With traditional licensing, these bottlenecks are only solved by spending large amounts of money on additional tool-specific licenses that could then join other idle licenses after the design moves to another stage in the design flow.

Exar Creates MetroXS 5G Multi-Service Access Reference Platform
Exar Corporation (Nasdaq: EXAR), a leading provider of high-performance, mixed-signal silicon solutions for the worldwide communications infrastructure released MetroXS — an industry-first, carrier class 5G multi-service access reference design that achieves Ethernet and Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) transport over SONET/SDH networks. MetroXS can reduce time-to-market entry for OEMs developing Metro Ethernet and Metro-Service access solutions by up to 50%. MetroXS targets carriers and service providers who need to send triple play traffic over existing SONET/SDH networks.

PulseCore Reduces EMI with Timing Safe Drop-in Device
PulseCore Semiconductor, the EMI experts, announced the industry’s first spread-spectrum enabled EMI reduction devices that maintain synchronization between both clock and data paths. The Timing Safe(TM) line merges two technologies: zero delay clocking and spread-spectrum clock modulation for EMI reduction, with enhanced options for controlling spread margin and timing. The result is an EMI reduction IC that can be directly dropped in the path of an offending clock while maintaining the same phase and timing relationship with the synchronized data.

NANOIDENT Fab Prints Semiconductor-based Optoelectronic Sensors
NANOIDENT Technologies AG, the world leader in printed semiconductor-based optoelectronic sensors, announced it has opened the world’s first manufacturing facility for the delivery of printed semiconductor-based optoelectronics. The NANOIDENT ORGANIC FAB (OFAB) GmbH, located in Linz, Austria, supports high-volume production and will use the company’s SEMICONDUCTOR 2.0 Platform to deliver printed semiconductor-based products for the NANOIDENT Group of companies, which includes NANOIDENT Technologies AG, NANOIDENT Biometrics GmbH, NANOIDENT Biometrics SAS and BIOIDENT Technologies, Inc. With its environmentally friendly production process, the OFAB can produce printed electronic devices quickly and at a fraction of the cost of a traditional silicon-based semiconductor fab.

Embedded Masterclass Event Features UK Embedded Vendors
The year’s UK Embedded Masterclass is to be held near Cambridge on the 3rd May and will focus on tools and techniques that can accelerate development. There will be an agenda of technical presentations from expert developers and a tabletop exhibition offering engineers the chance to speak with experts from many of the leading vendors of development tools, embedded software and hardware. There will also be experts from the manufacturing side of the industry with companies such as contract electronics manufacturer Barric and enclosure manufacturer Hitec. Over the past 5 years, the Embedded Masterclass series of seminars has attracted registrations from over 700 engineers.

Barric Opens Lab for Surface Mount Rework and Repair
Contract electronics manufacturer, Barric, have announced the creation of a dedicated electronics rework and repair lab. This new facility will undertake the test, inspection and repair of surface mount and BGA based electronic systems for technology manufacturers across Europe. In addition to Barric’s extensive experience in this field, the new facility is equipped with a 3D tilt and rotate X-Ray machine, an ERSA Scope, the most advanced Automated Optical Inspection systems and boundary scan technology for the internal testing of BGA devices.
