Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq:ACTG)(Nasdaq:CBMX) announced that Acacia Patent Acquisition Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary that is part of the Acacia Technologies group, a leader in technology licensing, has acquired rights to a patent portfolio relating to storage technology.
ST Saves Energy with Auto-Shutdown LED Driver
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a leader in ICs for driving high-brightness (HB) LEDs, introduced the first LED driver to include auto-power-saving features. The STP16CPS05, an innovative member of ST’s Power Logic family, allows manufacturers to meet the high power-efficiency requirements of industrial lighting, signage and transport applications by guaranteeing savings of 80% compared to existing solutions.
Energi to Manage Embedded Masterclass UK Event
Technical marketing company Energi, will be managing and promoting this year’s ‘Embedded Masterclass’, a UK event that brings embedded software engineers together with the major vendors of embedded development tools, software and hardware. The focus of this year’s event will be the acceleration of embedded system development and exhibitors already include companies such as European embedded tools specialist SDC, UK electronics manufacturer Barric, German debug tool company Lauterbach and electronic enclosure manufacturer Hitec.
Kontron, Schroff Team on MicroTCA Validation Systems
Kontron announces MicroTCA Validation Systems in close cooperation with Schroff. As a spin-off technology of the latest PICMG industry standard AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA is gathering significant attention for smaller scale communications solutions as well as in non-communications applications such as industrial and medical. MicroTCA is using standard Advanced Mezzanine Cards (AdvancedMCs) from the AdvancedTCA world in a ‘direct-to-backplane’ configuration. The first release of the PICMG standard for MicroTCA was achieved in July 2006. In 2007, it is expected that this technology moves from design to actual products.
Kontron, XGI Unveil UGM Standard for Embedded Systems
Kontron and XGI introduced for the first time the Universal Graphics Module standard for long-term available and custom scalable high-end PEG graphics. The new UGM standard defines an 84 x 95 mm universal graphics-on-module and supplies monitors with all current and future in demand graphics card signals.
