  • Telelogic Unveils Rhapsody AUTOSAR Pack for Model-Driven Development
    Telelogic (Stockholm Exchange: TLOG), the leading provider of software solutions that align advanced systems and software development with business objectives, announced the release of the Telelogic Rhapsody(R) AUTOSAR Pack for the Model-Driven Development (MDD) of automotive systems and software applications. This pack is the first automotive-specific MDD environment to leverage the Unified Modeling Language(TM) (UML(TM)) and the Systems Modeling Language(TM) (SysML(TM)). Using Telelogic Rhapsody, automotive engineers can now reuse specifications for common vehicle features across multiple automobile product lines, improving time-to-market while increasing brand consistency among designs.
  • SMSC Debuts Advanced Temperature Sensors for Designs at 90nm and Below
    As advanced mobile electronics, PC and embedded applications increasingly require high-performance processing, there is an urgent need to control the heat generated by these device processors. The research firm DataBeans estimates that the market for temperature sensors needed to monitor these hotter processors will grow more than 20 percent per year for the next five years, exceeding $783 million in 2006. To address these challenges, SMSC (Nasdaq: SMSC) unveiled two new distinct families of temperature sensors: the EMC1402, 1403 and 1404 series and the EMC1422, 1423 and 1424 series that address the CPU and up to three remote temperature measurements, including graphic processors, DIMM and wireless cards.
  • Mentor Creates Calibre xRC, Calibre xL Rule Decks for TSMC 65nm Process
    Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced the availability of Calibre(R) xRC(TM) and Calibre xL rule decks for TSMC’s advanced 65nm process node. These rule decks provide advanced modeling capabilities including process sensitivity, and self and mutual induction models. Calibre now provides a solution for many types of integrated circuit designs including analog, digital, mixed signal, and memory.
  • NI Offers LabVIEW Toolkit for Lego MindStorms NXT
    National Instruments (Nasdaq:NATI), a global leader in virtual instrumentation, announced the availability of the NI LabVIEW Toolkit for LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT, the next generation of the popular robotics invention system. With the new toolkit, LabVIEW users now can create and download VIs to operate and control the MINDSTORMS NXT robotics platform, and third-party software and hardware developers also can use the toolkit to create native blocks for MINDSTORMS NXT software. LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT, introduced in August, includes a new drag-and-drop, graphical programming environment custom developed by NI and powered by LabVIEW.
  • Bluespec Ramps Up ESEComp SystemC Synthesis
    Bluespec Inc., developer of the only electronic system level (ESL) synthesis for control logic and complex datapaths in chip design, said that it has begun volume shipments of its ESEComp, synthesis for SystemC-based hardware design.
  • Aeroflex 6413A UMTS Supports Live Receiver and Transmitter Testing
    Aeroflex has announced that it has added the ability to undertake live receiver testing and transmitter testing including HSDPA on its highly successful 6413A UMTS basestation test system. The capability is ideal for the ongoing maintenance of UMTS basestations to ensure they perform to specification as it enables testing to be undertaken without any disruption to live traffic caused by taking the basestation out of service.
  • Cypress Selects Mentor Graphics Calibre xRC for Parasitic Extraction
    Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced that its high-performance parasitic extraction solution, Calibre(R) xRC, is being used by Cypress Semiconductor Corp. in production flows for 130-, 90- and 65-nanometer processes. Calibre xRC was used at Cypress on the industry’s first 72 Mb SRAM, as well as other custom memory, microcontroller and clock designs. Calibre xRC was chosen for its demonstrated accuracy in analog/mixed-signal ICs, and an open calibration flow that accommodates internal manufacturing processes.
  • Microchip Unveils Analog-to-Digital Converter in SOT-23 Package
    Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced the highest resolution analog-to-digital converter (ADC) available in a SOT-23 package. The low-power, 18-bit, Delta-Sigma MCP3421 ADC features an integrated voltage reference and Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) on-chip, which reduces the need for external components and enables a smaller overall design footprint. With its 6-pin package, low power consumption and high resolution, the new ADC is ideal for portable measurement applications in the industrial, medical, consumer and automotive markets.
  • TI Introduces DirectPath Headphone Amplifier for Cellular Handsets
    Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced a new headphone amplifier optimized for cellular handsets and other portable audio applications. The TPA6130A2, which is part of the DirectPath(TM) line of amplifiers, outperforms other charge pump-based headphone drivers on the market today, offering a power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of 109 dB, the lowest quiescent current at 4 milliamp (mA), the first differential stereo inputs and 64-step software-based volume control. These features of the TPA6130A2 make it possible for manufacturers to minimize noise disturbances, extend battery life and maximize audio quality in their cell phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), portable media players and portable audio players.
  • TeleSoft VoIP Stack Ports to Micrium uC/OS-II RTOS, uC/TCP-IP Networking
    TeleSoft International announced that its Voice Over IP (VoIP) protocol stack is now pre-ported to uC/OS-II, the real-time operating system (RTOS) and to uC/TCP-IP networking software that Micrium sells to automotive and avionics applications, consumer electronics, medical devices, military and aerospace applications, networking systems, and systems-on-a-chip. Adding VoIP to Micrium’s embedded components enables customers to develop state-of-the-art multimedia with RFC compliant SIP and RTP protocols.
