RTLinux grew out of real-time research and open source development begun at New Mexico Tech almost a decade ago. Today, rock-solid RTLinux technology is deployed in thousands projects across a wide range of applications, including industrial control, instrumentation, communications and networking, aerospace and defense.

Through the efforts of FSMLabs and also those of open source community resources, RTLinux has evolved to address the needs of two distinct types of embedded Linux development projects:

  • Projects with stringent requirements for off-the-shelf, hard real-time functionality in commercial-grade software, accompanied by professional support and services, to meet pressing time-to-market goals
  • Academic, research, and other open software projects that wish to include real-time functionality in self-supported free software bases
