  • Anyone Heard of Nucleus Mobile OS?
    Over on the EDA Blog: “I must have been on the ex-planet Pluto when Mentor Graphics announced Nucleus Mobile OS because I have never heard of it before. Is it a new name for Nucleus RTOS? Is it a special version of Nucleus RTOS? I looked on the Mentor site, but could not find anything about Nucleus Mobile OS. However, I did find their new Nucleus Mobile OS site. The site was registered in March of this year.”
  • Synopsys, First Silicon Unveil Sitka PCI Express Development Platform
    Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, and First Silicon Solutions (FS2), a division of MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIPS) and a leader in on-chip instrumentation intellectual property (IP) for high-performance debug solutions, today announced the availability of the Sitka evaluation and development platform for Synopsys’ DesignWare(R) PCI Express(R) (PCIe) IP. The Sitka board, the result of collaboration between the two companies, functions as a standard PCIe add-in card with support for up to eight PCIe lanes (each lane is a 2.5 Gbps communication channel). With this new platform, designers can test and debug their system-on-chip (SoC) designs using the DesignWare PCIe IP while performing interoperability testing between their SoC design and a PCIe PHY. Designers using the Sitka board to prototype SoCs can reduce their design risk, cut development time and enable predictable success in their complex SoCs.

  • OMRON Creates UWB MIMO Antenna for High-Definition Video Transmission
    OMRON Corporation (TSE: 6645, US: OMRNY), a global leader in electronic components, sensing and control technologies, announced that it will release the world’s first commercial polymer antenna for Ultra-Wideband (UWB communications *1) targeted toward high-definition (HD) and other telecast quality video transmission applications. Shipping in mass production volume to High Definition television (HDTV) as well as related DVD and projector equipment manufacturers is scheduled to start in spring 2007.   • Squire’s Media Gateway Controller Supports Lucent MAX TNT
    Squire Technologies, the specialist provider of carrier-class signalling, SS7 and VoIP products and services, has today confirmed that its customer Eltopia, an ISP based in the USA, is using Squire’s SVI_MGC Media Gateway Controller to add SS7 functionality to Lucent Technologies’ MAX TNT Universal Gateway. With Squire’s proven MGC solution now in place, the company has successfully provided full interoperability with Eltopia’s incumbent system, which has in turn provided Eltopia with the dial-up and VoIP services that have enabled it to become a telecoms service provider.
  • MobileCom, Bharti Telesoft Simplify Staying in Touch with CLI+

  • Pioneer Files Plasma Display Panel Patent Lawsuit Against Samsung
    Pioneer Corporation today announced that it has filed a complaint against Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. (SDI) and several other Samsung companies in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas alleging SDI’s infringement of Pioneer patents (*1) related to plasma display panel (PDP) technology. Pioneer seeks a court order against enjoining sales of infringing SDI products and compensation for past infringement.
