  • ADEL and TI Ramp up New Fingerprint Identification Processor
    Shenzhen IDEAL Microelectronics Co. Ltd. (ADEL) and Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today announced that their jointly developed fingerprint identification processor ramped to volume production. The new fingerprint identification processor is based on TI’s high performance TMS320C5000(TM) digital signal processor (DSP) platform, and includes ADEL intellectual property (IP) owned fingerprint identification technology. The value of ADEL’s industry proven processor has been confirmed by customers in trial production and field application before entering volume production.
  • Nucleus Mobile OS to Power Nomadik Multimedia Mobile Phone Applications
    STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) and Mentor Graphics(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced that the two companies are partnering to make Mentor’s Nucleus(R) Mobile Operating System (OS) available on STMicroelectronics’ Nomadik(TM) STn880x and STn881x series of multimedia application processors. Developers using the Nomadik processors now have a scalable and robust foundation from which to build mobile features phone applications quickly and easily.
  • ST Debuts Dual-Interface Secure MCUs for e-Passport, ID Card Programs
    STMicroelectronics, a market leader in secure microcontrollers for more than 25 years, today announced a new dual-interface secure microcontroller, with 66-Kbytes of embedded EEPROM, which is designed to give improved performance in e-Passport, ID Card and related applications. The dual interface allows operation in both contact and contactless applications and the new ST19NR66 builds on the success of ST’s earlier ST19WR66, which was released two years ago, with higher clock speed, lower power consumption, and a smaller die size, to meet the latest packaging requirements.

    Four leading companies today announced that they have established the Micro Device Display Consortium (MDDPC) in order to widely publicize the features and advantages of Micro Device Display Projection Televisions (MDDP) among consumers, retailers, industry experts and the mass media.
