Acromag IP560 and IOS-560 CAN Bus Modules for Embedded Systems

Acromag introduced the IP560 and IOS-560 CAN bus modules for interfacing network sensors and actuators to control systems. The IP560 is an Industry Pack ANSI/VITA-4 card that plugs into VME, CompactPCI, and PCI bus mezzanine carrier cards or single-board computers in embedded systems. IOS-560 is designed for use within Acromag’s I/O Server industrial PC, which is a small fanless box computer for mobile computing, machine control, and test applications. Both CAN bus interface modules feature two channels with optional isolation. Each channel has an NXP SJA1000 CAN controller with a TJA1041 transceiver. Extended temperature models support -40 to 85°C operation. Single quantity pricing starts at $500.

Microchip PIC18F47J53 USB Microcontroller

Microchip Technology introduced the PIC18F47J53 USB microcontroller (MCU). The PIC18F47J53 MCU features XLP technology for eXtreme Low Power Consumption, up to 128 KB Flash program memory and 4 KB RAM, full-speed USB 2.0 capability, integrated mTouch sensing capability, multiple PWMs, timers, and SPI channels with DMA. The PIC18F47J53 microcontroller is available in 44-pin QFN and TQFP packages. Pricing starts at $2.31 each (10,000-unit quantities). The Microchip USB MCU is ideal for portable consumer devices, medical devices, and other applications that require low power consumption and USB connectivity.

ITTIA DB SQL 3.2 Relational Database for Embedded Systems and Devices

ITTIA rolled out version 3.2 of their ITTIA DB SQL relational database for embedded systems and devices. ITTIA DB SQL’s multi-user capabilities enable applications on an embedded device to share data safely between different threads and processes. ITTIA DB SQL v3.2 uses shared memory areas to improve the performance of on-device communications. Shared memory is fully compatible with the existing TCP/IP transport, allowing data to be shared between both local and remote connections with the best possible performance. Mistral UART and CAN Daughter Cards for TI Sitara AM1x, OMAP-L1x EVM

Mistral introduced UART and CAN daughter cards for Texas Instruments (TI) evaluation modules (EVMs) based on TI’s Sitara AM1x microprocessors (MPUs) and OMAP-L1x application processors for embedded industrial, medical and consumer designs. The UART daughter card has interfaces for soft UART, hard UART, and soft DIR. The CAN daughter card features soft CAN and hard CAN bus interfaces. The Mistral plug-in daughter cards help developers leverage the benefits of the PRU features on the AM1x and OMAP-L1x processors.

e-con Systems e-WiB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Add-on Module

e-con Systems announced the e-WiB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module. The e-WiB is based on the Marvell 88W8688 (Marvell 8688), which features 802.11b/g and Bluetooth class 2.1 EDR. The Wi-Fi Bluetooth add-on module is designed as single antenna for WiFi and Bluetooth. e-WiB features SDIO/SPI interface for Wi-Fi and UART/SDIO interface for Bluetooth. The small size and low profile physical design makes it easy for system design to add wireless connectivity. The e-WiB module is available with Windows CE 6.0 R3 support.

TI Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 BSP for OMAP-L1x, Sitara AM1x Processors

Texas Instruments rolled out Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 board support packages (BSPs) for OMAP-L1x floating-point DSP+ARM9 processors, Sitara AM1x ARM9 microprocessor units (MPUs) and associated evaluation modules (EVMs). The new BSPs enable developers to easily and quickly interface devices to Embedded CE. The BSPs include drivers and source code. Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 BSPs for OMAP-L1x and AM1x devices can be downloaded now for free.

Semitech SM2200 OFDMA Power Line Communication Transceiver

Semitech Semiconductor launched the SM2200 OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) based power line transceiver. The smart grid SM2200 includes a packet data modem with a simple physical layer protocol. When combined with a microcontroller (MCU), the chip is a cost effective solution for data links and point-to-point, star or ad hoc networks. The SM2200 IC is ideal for metering infrastructure and automated meter reading, street lighting control, smart energy home area networking, home automation, building automation, and other deployments requiring communications over an existing power line. AdaCore Ada Web Server for Wind River VxWorks

AdaCore rolled out Ada Web Server (AWS) for Wind River’s VxWorks Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). AWS for VxWorks, when used with the GNAT Pro development environment, enables developers to easily implement a user interface to embedded systems through regular web browsers. With AWS for VxWorks, users can connect through a direct TCP/IP link to board-level applications flike system control, configuration, and maintenance. The two-way interface is both lightweight and flexible. AWS for Wind River VxWorks is available now.
