imec and Holst Centre announced an analog-signal processor (ASP) ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) that reduces the overall power consumption of an ambulatory heart activity signal monitoring systems by more than 5 times. This breakthrough is a major step towards constant ambulatory monitoring of people using energy harvesting, which increases the comfort level of patients and is a cost- and time-efficient alternative for current monitoring systems.

Axiomtek MMT225 TFT Medical Grade Touch LCD Monitor
Axiomtek launched the 22-inch MMT225 TFT medical grade touch LCD monitor. The Axiomtek fanless MMT225 features a thickness of 69mm, 300 nits WSXGA LCD display, and user-friendly OSD. It’s IPX1 waterproof design protects the entire system from outside liquid, preventing system from crashing. The RoHS-compliance MMT225 TFT will be available in March 2010. The rugged monitor is ideal for medical image processing and mobile nursing cart.
CommAgility AMC-2C87W3 Advanced Mezzanine Card
The CommAgility AMC-2C87W3 digital baseband module features L1 PHY (physical layer), L2 RLC/MAC (Radio Link Control/Media Access Control), S1/X2 interface, and security processing for LTE (Long Term Evolution) or WiMAX. The AMC-2C87W3 integrates the PHY, RLC/MAC, transport (including all backhaul and air interface security) and antenna connectivity requirements of eNodeB into a compact single width solution. It provides end-to-end data handling from raw radio IQ data through to backhaul IP packets. The Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) will be available in March 2010.

IBASE Technology introduced the ET830 Intel Atom-based Nano ETX Computer-on-Module. The ET830 features Intel Atom Z530 processor, Mobile Intel SCH US15W Chipset, Intel single-chip system controller hub (SCH), optimized integrated graphics solution. 533MHz front-side bus, dual independent graphics for CRT/LVDS displays, and 512MB of onboard DDR2 system memory. Physik Instrumente (PI) announced the N-216 NEXLINE high-load piezo linear motors. The N-216 NEXLINE ultra-precision nanopositioning actuators with travel ranges to 20 mm and push / pull forces to 600 N (130 lb). The operating principle is based on coordinated motion of a number of highly preloaded linear and shear piezo elements acting on a ceramic runner and does not involve rotation/linear conversion.
MSC Vertriebs Qseven Starter Kits
MSC Vertriebs announced Qseven Starter Kits that are based on MSC’s Qseven modules (70 x 70mm form factor and the Intel Atom processor). The kits are based on the new 3.5-inch platform board Q7-MB-EP1 and offer a variety of interfaces. The kits feature a Qseven Heatspreader, a ready-to-run Linux installation on USB Flash Stick, and a 12V power supply. Optionally, the evaluation kit is available with a TFT panel and cable kit.
Data Translation DT9824 Data Acquisition Module
Data Translation introduced the DT9824 ultra-high resolution USB data acquisition module for portable test and measurement. The USB-powered DT9824 enables users to simultaneously sample up to four fully isolated 24-bit inputs, guaranteeing complete signal measurement protection from all environmental or system noise. The DT9824 is priced at $1695 and ships 6-8 weeks ARO.
Axiomtek SBC84833 Single Board Computer
The Axiomtek SBC84833 is a small footprint single board computer. The SBC84833 features the Intel Atom processor N270 at 1.60 GHz, FSB 533 MHz, and the Mobile Intel 945GSE Express chipset with the ICH7M. The embedded board is ideal for digital signage, kiosks, POS terminals, thin clients, and digital surveillance. The SBC84833 will be available near the end of February 2010.
