BearBox has developed and patented technology for the wireless control of remote machines via GSM. The company is now a leading Machine to Machine (M2M) developer and has developed a number of products including "smart" GSM enabled delivery units and an advanced stock location product as well as an access control system.
The company was initially founded to provide a high-tech solution to the "final mile". The delivery of time critical spare parts and materials to field service engineers and sales reps is a fast growing, high margin sector of the UK delivery logistics market, and final mile costs are over half the total cost of delivery. In 2002, BearBox launched the world’s first national intelligent delivery box network - a network of smart delivery units on sites across the UK which has now grown to over 200 locations.
BearBox Logistics Lockers are the most advanced, reliable and flexible solution available today and are the only custom-developed intelligent unattended delivery solution in the UK. Access to doors is managed by our online BearBox Management Centre, through which customers can monitor and control deliveries.
Aimed at the UK business market, Bearbox Complete ensures packages can be delivered or collected first time without the need for anyone to be there with pre 7.30am deliveries across the UK to our network of secure Logistics Lockers. Access is controlled remotely by a central server. It helps businesses increase the productivity of field staff, improve stock control and returns and allows for full track and trace capabilities. Customers include both multinational corporations and major carriers.
The BearBox Logistics Lock is based on similar technology, and can be used on any door to turn it into an unmanned delivery point with full audit trail and real time control. The lock is being DHL on their depots throughout the UK.
BearBox also offers Advanced Stock Locations (ASLs), allowing customers to locate fast-moving stock at key locations. Based on the Logistics Locker, BearBox ASLs are integrated with both client and carrier IT systems, ASLs offer customers from 5m(3) of storage space and provides customers with immediate access to parts without incurring expensive courier costs.
The BearBox was voted Best Postal Technology in the May 2003 World Mail Awards, and in 2004, the Company was awarded a prestigious DTI backed SMART award; valuable recognition for the company and its technology. The Company had two UK patents granted in 2005 with multiple worldwide patents pending.
