Consumption of switches in North America, which totaled almost $1.1 billion and nearly 800 million units in 1998, is forecast to reach almost $1.3 billion and over 988 million units in 2003, increasing at average compound annual growth rates (CAGRs) of 3.5% and 4.3%. VDC believes the market will continue to experience restricted overall growth over the next five years, with slight increases and decreases in performance through the forecast period based on general economic trends.
