Solving The Critical DSL Deployment Problem By Putting Loop-Diagnostics And Other Provisioning Functionality Directly Into DSL Data Pump Silicon

Digital subscriber line (DSL) service has been hailed as one of the industry's most promising broadband solutions, but its adoption has been hampered by deployment challenges that have required expensive central office (CO) line-diagnostic equipment and/or one or more truck rolls to analyze and solve line-related problems. The situation is becoming even more difficult as the industry quickly migrates to a model where DSL service is deployed from unmanned, remote terminals and digital loop carriers (DLCs), rather than from the CO where it is easier to install, monitor and maintain line-testing equipment.
