Realtime Applications on the 80C16x

With the introduction of powerful microcontrollers like the Siemens 80C16x, the ability to efficiently control resources has become a focal point of development. HighTec ported its Portable eXtendible Realtime OS kernel in 1991 to take advantage of the C16x's processing power. Since then, PXROS has found its way in to a diverse field of C166 applications, from control systems for cranes to car stereo systems. This article briefly describes the realtime kernel's use in a fairly simple application: a motor control system.
