Real-time Perspective is a set of object-oriented development processes and techniques that address all aspects of real-time systems development. This paper describes Foundation, the core of Real-time Perspective, and has the following principal sections: (1) A requirements architecture that supports real-time requirements, (2) A three-tier solution architecture that supports multitasking and multiprocessor systems, (3) Object-oriented modeling techniques drawn from the Unified Modeling Language (UML), and (4) An incremental development process.
