As E-commerce continues to grow in popularity, Internet host servers must meet the increasing demands of sophisticated users having access to fast broadband connections. These demanding users will not wait for slow downloads due to insufficient capacity and speed. When faced with long wait times, these users simply move on to other faster sites. In the past, hosting servers could satisfy increasing access requirements by simply adding extra servers. As these systems grew in size, however, they also grew in complexity. Large quantities of computing power became necessary just to play "traffic cop" for this pyramid of network servers.
