Performance Considerations on PowerQUICC II/PowerPC Design with PCI

The design of high performance embedded communication systems is a complex and challenging task requiring careful study, analysis, and execution. Invariably, the designer is faced with the difficult task of formulating and analyzing several architecture designs before finally choosing one, which will respond to the system performance goals. Highperformance contemporary embedded communications systems carrying video streams, high-speed data, and voice signals require connectivity to different interfaces, flexibility in supporting a wide range of data throughput, while providing good system performance. The selection of a particular platform and architecture generally imposes some inherent design implementation constraints and will therefore impact overall system performance.
